#1225 – Quench

When I was a kid I just had the basic goldfish in a bowl setup. I had friends with the more elaborate tanks complete with little treasure chest that would periodically open to let some bubbles out. My little goldfish just had a tiny castle and some blue rocks to look at. I wonder how the castle became a common aquarium decoration. Did they have castles in Atlantis?

Today’s Maximumble is a sign.

We had guppies. The dog would have happily have drank them down, but we’d already planned a more horrible fate for them – We fed them to the turtles.

Yah, we had some hard-core killer turtles.

    Log cabins float.

Well, if, as seems likely, Atlantis was really Thera, destroyed by a massive volcanic eruption, they at least had amazing architecture and drainage systems. So while they maybe didn’t have castles, flush toilets (3500 years ago, mind) are more helpful and impressive after a while anyway.

    Bad dog! Bad, bad dog!

Anyone else picturing a white dog with huge eyebrows?

  6. Baughbe says:

Yes there are castles in Atlantis. And mermaids. And free cable TV. And no political pundits.

@Baughbe; What about lawyers…? Does Atlantis have lawyers?

  8. Wigsternm says:

@MaskedMan Yes, but only for use in the Arena. They were found to be much more effective than lions.

When I was a kid, I had angelfish. Then neon tetras. Then angelfish and neon tetras. Then just angelfish and chewed up pieces of neon tetras…

@Wigsternm: I’d rather see the lawyers vs. the lions.

Petz can be challenging… GOLDfish don’t like cheap rents!

I didn’t have goldfish as a kid. I had guppies. I even named them. Then they got hungry and ate each other… Great comic, btw!

I had goldfish that would take suicidal leaps out of the bowl. I never could keep a fish alive past a few days.

I have goldfish. I sometimes think it’s strange that I love and care for them so much, but they’re the first pets that I got to take care of completely on my own, so maybe it’s an ownership thing. It also might be that I think it’s cute when they swim up into one corner of the tank and say hello to me in the morning before spitting water up to tell me they’re hungry.
