#899 – Projection

Apparently broccoli and cauliflower are not very popular. I am basing this statement on the fact that every time someone brings a veggie and dip platter to work I get to eat all of the broccoli and cauliflower. They go crazy for the carrots but won’t touch my two favorites.

Biff, stop aiming cannons at your face!

  2. I want a broccoli cannon…

  3. MadKanga says:

I am with you, Chris – love both, cooked or uncooked

  4. Hawk says:

I like broccoli! But I prefer it steamed to raw, generally. Sometimes with cheese!

  5. anonymous says:

you are not alone! broccoli and cauliflower are pretty much my favorites.

  6. Drakey says:

    Broccoli and cauliflower.
Only thing better is both at once, and I hear they have that now.

  7. Booger says:

Broccoli and cauliflower raw does not appeal to my taste buds haha.
But I LOVE when they’re cooked. Stirfry that up=yumm <3

  8. Mad David says:

I don’t know why cauliflower would be unpopular …

Broccoli and brussel sprouts have a chemical that makes them bitter to people who have a specific gene.

  9. Tvae says:

I gotta say it – I really don’t like either of them. Okay, I take that back – I can eat broccoli raw, and my mother does make an amazing cauliflower soup… But that’s it. Cooked broccoli = THE most disgusting thing on this planet (bar asparagus, even the smell of that stuff makes me gag).

And since I grew up on a farm, this fact has caused me no end of grief. Luckily there was other good vegetables (and fruits), I just really don’t like broccoli.

  10. Jino says:

I… Still don’t get why people don’t like those two. They’re amongst my most favourite veggies.
I can eat kilograms of cauliflower at a time, had I the stomach to put it all in. 😀

  11. DracoZereul says:

I feel like the odd man out here, but I’m not too fond of cauliflower. I just can’t taste it worth a damn by itself; with ranch or cheese, I’ll eat it no prob, but by itself, it’s just too bland for me to really enjoy.

On the other hand, I do like broccoli. Again, it’s not something I’d eat in mass quantities like Jino, but I do like it, and have ever since I was a kid (No lies, I liked how they looked like little trees)

  12. Linzleh says:

Broccoli is my favourite… Biff’s too apparently, although a dose of cauliflower cannon would be hard to see given Biff’s complexion

  13. Fertfreak says:

At first, I somehow read that as CATS were eating a lot more vegetables.

  14. SEA says:

I like those 2 as long as they are cooked. =p (same goes for carrot, unless it’s raw >_<)

  15. ZeoViolet says:

I love broccoli and cauliflower….with cheese OR with ranch. I like carrots ok but I LURVS baby carrots.

  16. Matt Lee says:

@Drakey They really should make a plant called the Brocliflower.

That’s what I call power! I wish my cannon wouldn’t even make it across the room. Stupid heavy Broccoli.

  17. Ziriath says:

It’s good he didn’t cover his mouth with his hand while yawning. So he got at least some vegetables into him…

I like fried broccoli or cauliflower, but it’s quite greasy…

  18. John says:

another cannon in the face lol, this time veggies.

I wonder if this health thing will carry on into the next week

  19. Tigergulp says:

My broccoli must have cheese! I love olives the most; I will do a sneak attack on someone else’s plate if they have olives left over (only with family though)

  20. Mophtran says:

I can’t stand broccoli. Cauliflower is fine, but I can’t have broccoli in just about any form. The taste makes me gag :/

Asparagus, however, cook that up in butter and garlic just long enough that it’s still crunchy and NOMNOMNOM. Any cooked and mushy vegetables turn my stomach.

  21. mrpeach32 says:

Broccoli has one purpose in a vegetable platter, and that’s to be the vegetable with the most convenient shape for maximizing ranch dressing saturation. Easy to hold on to stalk, and a dipping area with a vastly superior surface area when compared to celery or, god forbid, carrots.

But Cauliflower? What are you? Nuts?

  22. Wizard says:

I’m not crazy about broccoli, but I eat some regularly on the basis that it’s probably good for me. Cauliflower, OTOH, is just nasty. Raw, cooked, with cheese, doesn’t matter, I can’t stand it. Oddly enough, I used to like it pickled, although I haven’t had any in years.

  23. Croc says:

Never have been a fan of cauliflower. One, because I dislike the taste, but two, because it’s so hard to spell. I want to spell it cauliflour every time.

Broccoli, on the other hand, is amazing when steamed.

  24. dartigen says:

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of cauliflower with anything on it, though plain it’s kind of boring. Broccoli stems are okay raw in a salad, but otherwise it’s best cooked very quickly so it’s still all crunchy.

  25. Acies says:

1 time I went to the departmental lunchroom and found they got veggie and cheese platters for a seminar earlier that day. All the veggie was gone except for the broccoli and once the crackers were gone, no one touched the cheese. So I quickly finished my lunch, put a few drops of water in my lunch box, piled broccoli into it, layered it with cheese, then stuck it in the microwave for 20-30s… It was soooo good XD

  26. MaskedMan says:

There are a hundred million parents that would buy that broccoli cannon…

I also love the broccoli and cauliflower on the veggie tray… the rough tops are perfect for collecting and holding the dip…

  27. William Syler says:

Now i feel like the odd man out…I do not like either Broccoli or Cauliflower 🙁 it probably doesn’t help that I got sick eating both of them in a stir-fry when i was younger…

  28. reynard61 says:

I can tolerate broccoli as long as it’s in something (Chinese food, Japanese food, soup, etc.), but I simply *cannot* stomach cauliflower.

  29. Skydiver Todd says:

Broccoli Cannon?!? Reminds me of Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel! Is the myth about broccoli being able to go through solid steel true? Let’s load it into our cannon and find out! Now let’s try asparagus, after all, it’s pointy! Was the comedian Gallagher actually trying to create new substances? Or was he just crazy? Instead of a hammer, we use a cannon and test veggies splat-ability…

I don’t have trouble with any of those veggies. Can eat them steamed, raw, cheesy, ranched, or even home with the Hollandaise…

@Matt Lee: BTW, there is a cross between broccoli and cauliflower called broccoflower, looks like a green cauliflower. Never have tried it tho.

  30. Grug says:

mmm. I love cauliflower and broccoli even more, but you have to be very careful when eating it sometimes. If it’s in a soup or sauce, like Shanghai Noodles, the steaming hot liquid gets trapped inside the tufts, and it all squirts out when you bite. Ouch.

  31. no name says:

Broccoli is awesome. I just like the stem part… raw. 😀

  32. Random says:

“You many fire when ready.” 🙂
    I don’t like either.

  33. Matt Lee says:

@Skydiver Todd I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

  34. Dr3w says:

I loves broccoli and cauliflower both. NOTHING is as good as cutting a stalk of broccoli directly off the plant and eating it right there. Mmm…. nom nom nom. I prefer both raw, but with enough cheese, broccoli becomes awesome cooked.

  35. sco3tt says:

I used to have a broccoli cannon but replaced it with a broccoflower chain gun. If you haven’t tried broccoflower yet, it’s a broccoli-cauliflower hybrid. I also suggest eating it from a chain gun, but any vegi-launcher will work.

  36. MadKanga says:

I understand broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower are all different strains of the same plant, so almost any combination is possible.
    Anyone for a vegi rocket-launcher?

  37. sixtysixpointsix says:

I love broccoli and cauliflower, but I HATE Broco-flower. What’s up with that? Genetic mutation, that’s what.

  38. Draconic says:

Broccoli is my fave veg 😀

  39. Nokore says:

I love both, especially when cooked. And cheesy. |3

  40. Chuck says:

Man I love broccoli and cauliflower.

  41. Tech says:

I also never got why no-ne on Tv didn’t like broccoli (see my comment on cocconut candies)
