I sometimes read twitter for 15 minutes or so before going to sleep. During this time of year I’ll have as much of my body covered by blankets as possible except for my head and my left hand scrolling through tweets. By the time I’m done that left hand has almost no blood or heat left in it. I have to wrap it up in its own little blanket cocoon because it’s so cold I don’t want it anywhere near me.

It never occurs to you to have hand and head under the covers together? Or are you blankets so heavy you’d asphyxiate in less than 15 minutes? I can understand the latter, if so…
I don’t think it would be that very comfortable to sleep with one of those things on your head… But my mom is going to try it, she says…
Go to the store and buy those gloves that have covers that can flip back from the tips of your fingers and thumb. When cold you can flip those covers back into place. Then you look like you’re wearing mittens but they’re oh so warm.
I use gloves like these because I was tired of gloves that basically never let me hold anything unless they were so thin they left my hands cold anyways.
Turn the heat up to about 70 degrees.
Cold problem solved! 😀
Plungers serve a filthy purpose, one that precludes any event where I might affix one to my face by choice.
Instead, I conveniently keep a pair of gloves under my pillow for mornings like these. Right next to the ice scraper (in case the alarm clock is iced over and I need to see how late I am for work) and road flares (I’m not sure why I have road flares).
I took my birthday money from last month, and bought myself a wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad. It’s like the keyboard on the netbook I’m using, but bigger, to more easily accommodate my big paws. I also got a wireless mouse of the same brand (Logitech), and both can use the same receiver with no problems, so the keyboard one is in my home PC, and the mouse one is in the netbook. Seems like if it’s too cold when I get home in the evenings, now I can have at least the keys under the blankets with me, and just use the touchpad to surf, keeping most of my body warm, until the readjusted themostat takes care of things.
You get birthday money every month? What a great deal!
But what about the Doctor Who-inspired nightmares?
