#169 – Socks

Chapter: Comics
I don’t pay much attention to my socks as I put them on each day. There are other parts of my wardrobe that demand more attention. But every year I get some new socks for xmas and I suddenly pay attention to them. Brand new socks feel so good that I wish I had a new pair for each day… but that would be silly.

Staple guns can exacerbate one’s tendonitis. I would know. Hehehehe, “exacerbate,” huhuhuhuhuh.
Thats a great idea…i wonder if it works for pants that are too big too…and hoodies that the arms are too short… and to keep hats on. Someone should try it for me and let me know.
it works, but it kinda hurts using the staple remover to take em off…
Thats gonna bleed him rather badly for even for weeks lol.
I’ve noticed how much you hate new readers, but I’m sorry to say, you have another one. Saw an ad somewhere (probably some other comic), read some of the comics and I was hooked. I spent the last hour going through the archives. Your comic regularly had me laughing out loud on a basis none other can match.
At least, none that I can think of at the moment, because I’m still lost in a land of laughter.
Thank you Chris. You’ve turned my mediocre Tuesday morning into a morning filled with glee and a lifelong devotion to your comic.
Hmmmm… wonder if that would work on pants that are hanging too low. Sometimes, I want to hire a rogue band of 2nd graders to run through the local mall and pants anyone wearing their jeans that way… Ahhhhh the chaoes that would ensue…
lose*
Could we use this principle on those that walk around with their pants belted (loosely) around their knees? “Excuse me sir . . . *whoosh-staple-staple-staple*”
Ah . . . nice thoughts . . .
So does Biff actually feel any pain or not?
I donno if he feels pain or not, but I’m sure he feels chagrin.
Like when he’s at the emergency room having to explain how he got lock jaw – while having a locked jaw. 😛
Heh, I’ve been wondering that… is he stupid, or does he not know what pain is? Granted, half the stuff he does looks like something I would do, but still… 😛
I do that to keep my dress socks up. They would always fall about halfway down for some reason.
I LOVE NEW SOCKS! They’re all nice and snug and warm. My mom said she was going to get me some for christmas (I think just joking around) and then she never did. I was majorly bummed. I want new socks now…
heh… my parents actually DID get me a package of socks for Christmas… And I’m still not sure if it was a gag gift or not…
Ouch. At least the sock will stay on. But taking them off would hurt.
Hey Crono, welcome. I’m glad you are enjoying the comics.
hhhhmmmm, I’m thinking Biff is more of just a loser, a completly normal guy in an odd world…..oooooooorrrr maybe I’m off completly
I’m sure there are many ways people will come up with to describe Biff.
Hey, I had an idea… You know how it had been brought up before about actually making a book of these things? How about including the posts that we put up in response to them? Kind of a “thank you” to the people who made TBoB as popular as it is. Whether you use all or just the funny/interesting ones… it would be kinda cool.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
That’s an interesting idea T.S. I’ll keep that in mind.
Yay! I’m useful… haha
i kinda did something like that once. i was messing around with a staple gun, loading it manually through the ejection port, no idea if that’s the real name, and i pulled the trigger too hard and embedded a staple in the bone of my thumb. hurt like hell and took my mom 3 tries to pry it out of my thumb witha pair of pliers. to this day, i still laugh at myself for that.
on a side note, does biff ever get any sun, or does he spend so much time in recuperation that he can’t get a tan
Let’s start a campaign to get chris a new pair of socks every week!
Biff, a loser?!?! Then why does he have so many fans, huh? Answer me that, smartypants!
To answer the pain question, anyone that can move the immovable is beyond pain as well!! Well, he’s not gonna let it get in his way anyways :).
Hmm.. that’s interesting though, that sword must be really freakin’ heavy if Biff, Mover of the Immovable can’t wield it properly.. perhaps he’s lost some of his power.. hmmm.. then again maybe he just doesn’t know what “immovable” means.
Ah the enigma that is Biff.
🙂 You guys are cracking me up trying to make sense of my silly drawings.
That’s gotta hurt.
Actually, it’s not that silly.
I wear a pair of socks for a good few days (or a week, depending on how active I get) throw them in a walmart bag, and grab a new pair out of a bag I keep. lol
I mean, 12 pairs for 5 bucks at wally-world will last me a good while.
And it’s always such a good feeling. (plus I loose the damn things in the wash anyway, so I don’t even bother. I use the old socks as rag’s for spills on the floor n’ stuff)
I guess that’s useful, but then you hav the problem of removing the blood stains from your socks…
The comments on this actually made me laugh more than the comic. (*Whoosh-staple-staple-staple*)
Japanese trick that was commonplace at my school: glue. You have to reapply it perhaps every five hours, it hurts to remove and it works better on shaved legs, but it works! Is it funnier that it is thought of as a strategy, or that it is implemented, I wonder?
Found this yesterday and I’m reading through the archives rather quickly – laughed at Biff’s solution to soggy cereal.
In Japan, there’s a product called ‘sock glue’, so it’s not really THAT silly an idea…. ^__^
all i have to say is ‘ouch’
when i was in sixth grade we made sugar cube castles with hot glue, one of my group members thought it would be a good idea to put the glue on my socks and then push them onto my legs really hard, it hurt sooooo bad. the only good part of the story is that she got kicked out of the group and when we were done with the castles one person from each group got to take it home, it was me and i “accidentally” dropped it on her head
Just let ’em fall, man…. it’s not worth it!
ouch.
Biff will never make sense to anyone.
Ya know, when my dad was young, his friend’s dad had a wooden leg. he used staples to keep his sock from falling down on the wooden leg!
*wince*
Oh Biff, NO!
I don’t think he can feel pain, but he can be annoyed and physically impaired by injuries.
The socks ‘lose’ elasticity. The side effect is them being ‘loose’. The staples are there for ‘dramatic effect’. The invisible ‘green’ car is back.
Achilles stapled heel.
its amazing he’s not dead by now.
Little known fact: Harrison Ford used to staple his hat to his head while filming the Indiana Jones movies, to stop it flying off every ten seconds.
So Biff is in some pretty good company, with that staplegun 😀
And upon reading this, all I could think of was this one strip of XKCD… Number 291.
Hint: Mouseover the comic and you’ll understand the connection. Hat Guy terrifies me sometimes. Although Biff looks like the sort of guy that’d be an accidental of Hat Guy’s pranks… Like the bobcat-eBay thing more recently.
You need to put disclaimers on this, Chris (imagines Chris going to jail for giving harmful advice – and Biff ceasing to exist)
ow
Shouldn’t the static keep them up?
I had a substitute teacher once who crossed his legs with one ankle on his knee, played with a stapler, and “accidentally” drop/slammed it down and wound up stapling a piece of paper to his calf. he had a prosthetic leg, and he liked to mess with middle school minds. he’d never tell us how he actually lost the leg, though…
Ah Biff. You’re like an enigma wrapped in ham wrapped in an awesome eyebrow-doo.
I’ve been stapled there, it’s not so bad… (really)
Is there anything Biff can’t staple?
…
I probably should’ve stopped imagining what Biff feels in the depicted moment BEFORE moving on after the oven slippers page…
