I think what always startles me about the many-legged bugs is that they tend to move very quickly. If they just creeped around under the furniture I really wouldn’t mind. It’s when I catch some movement in my peripheral vision while I’m trying to brush my teeth and find a bug tearing across the floor towards my bare feet. It’s a pain to have to take a second shower to wash off all that toothpaste.

Keeping track of all of those shoes … wouldn’t want to be Biff.
At least the three-inch-long one that I saw on the ceiling above my bed when I woke up from my after-work nap was polite enough to stay there while I went to get a chair and a sturdy shoe to squish him.
Reminds me of a Serbian insult: “May your wife give birth to a centipede so you have to work for shoes all your life.”
