#888 – Muffled

Chapter: Comics
I haven’t had much luck with eavesdropping. Any time there’s a conversation I wish I could hear it doesn’t work out. On the other hand I’m constantly being clobbered by people’s personal conversations that I really don’t want to listen to. I understand that you are excited to tell your wife about the new cat box but can you do it at a volume slightly under the music pumping through my headphones?

Wow Biff was listening for a long time.
Oh, man. Hope his eyebrows didn’t get caught.
Ok, so the theme seems to be waiting rather than delays. 🙂
On that note, let me tell you all something about drive-thrus.
I worked in them for almost nine years before moving on to bigger and better things. One thing I can tell you for certain.
No matter how pesky the drive-thru, the order taker can hear your background conversations a LOT better than he or she can hear your order directly. Drive-thrus are very good at picking up background noise and chatter a lot more than they are at picking up the direct stuff. That’s bad for them, but in the meantime, use some common sense on the DT order taker and make sure the person in the backseat isn’t detailing their latest XXX date exploits. *headdesk*
At least, that was the biggest complaint of every single one of my coworkers with regards to DT. ^
I know what you mean when you can easily overhear what you don’t need or want to. Like my office neighbor who is having an affair with the marketing assistant (both married). Neither one realizes just how far their shrill voices carry, even when they ‘whisper’.
Listening at walls… *headdesk*
Instead of having Biff’s problem, I had the opposite… When I wore the Uniform, at one point I lived in a barracks room next to a couple very young sailors. They liked to get up at 0330 to go surfing, returning at 0530, with their girlfriends, to indulge in a half hour or so of very loud sex, followed by reveille. Yes, I could’a busted them, but they were good (if very annoying) sailors… I just wish the walls had been a lot thicker. I got a very good pair of earplugs, instead.
OK, too. I stand by the soundness of the first three bodily function observations, but I must admit this has me grasping for straws. Hmmmm… removal of superficial surface. Uhhhhhhhh… dandruff?
Heeeeeeey! What *was* Biff listening to? Minding the average put down of men, only conversation could have lasted long enough for paint to dry. But if it were sex that got his attention, (muffled conversations rarely solicit interest) then I’m still batting four for four.
Sub theme: coming and going. Outflow (having to ‘go’) and intake. (of pizza) Leaving this world, (death) and ringing in the new. (life)
What’s left… The Universe? Everything? Thursday? Martes?
i wonder what type of paint biff used, *looks at can, realizes i was blue colored glue*
I rarely eavesdrop since I get caught.
i’m really good at listening…i’ve lived in places with very thin walls. but then there’s things you don’t want to hear.. like people arguing over the stupidest things.
You should have made the same wall stick happen around his head because his ears would have been pressed against the wall.
