On Valentine’s day it will become popular to give your loved one chocolates inside a box that was printed from a scan of your actual heart.

  1. If this would ever be possible then I would really like to have a brain that is printed from a scan of my actual brain. I think it would show other people how my day has been quite clearly…

If I keep forgetting where I put my brain and can’t remember where I had it last… Well…

    Oh. My. God!
You’d better copyright this idea now. Now! Before someone else claims it.

That being said, I have always wanted exact models of my own skull. At least one full-sized, and a smaller one made into a large coffee cup.

    1. Yeah, I would really like to have my own skull like that too! Maybe one that can be opened in some way, so that I can store my brain (from my other comment) in it!

Re: Taking MRI scans and turning them into 3D prints – already done. Takes a bit of hand-processing (mainly cleaning up artefacts from the scanning process), but people are using this to print visual copies of organs and the like – it’s amazing how much easier it is to understand a problem with something when you can actually hold it in front of you and “see” the defect with your own eyes, and then so much easier to explain it to the patient.

And in update: Showed a friend who takes care of an MRI machine and she said “Do you want one?” 😉
