#1766 – Planetary

It’s funny how I can get so used to the layout of a room that I start navigating it by muscle memory. If something minor changes my whole system is thrown off and I walk into doorways instead of through them. This is especially bad when I’m carrying some sort of hot beverage.

  1. Maybe not exactly the same thing, but this still reminds me of when any door inside the apartment is a bit less wide open than it usually should be, and my T-shirt sleeve gets caught on the door handle because I just walk past without paying attention to the door. Yeah, that’s what happens when you always wear T-shirts that are at least one size too big…

One of my favorite pranks is to go into someone’s office/cubicle/workspace and move everything about 2 inches to the right. It’s a great way to make a person more clumsy.

Or, over some longer period of time, gradually (maybe 1/8 inch each day) move things in one direction, until they are eventually working right up against a wall, trying to remember if work always felt so awkward.

I remember an episode of “Pete and Pete” when little Pete had Artie push the entire house over by a like an inch when his dad was at work. He was thrown off for the rest of the episode.
