Chapter: Comics
The most memorable gift I got from childhood was the Millennium Falcon. It was the only Star Wars space ship I ever got and it was the best. My parents definitely got a good $ to play time ratio out of that one. What is your most memorable gift?
Also, Biff’s of Xmas past!
Nog
Carp
Conditioned
Taste
Secret
Aftermath
Cling
Charoo
In reply to “Secret”… I know one store that’s open Christmas morning! Walgreen’s!
Guess where I’ll be!
The image of a little beaver flying around in the sky, perhaps with one of those silly antler-headbands on its head, is too cute.
That would simplify the issue of disposing of the tree, after Christmas.
The Millennium Falcon was indeed awesome. The AT-AT was impressive, but I think I got a lot more play out of my Falcon.
Holy crap, mine’s also the Millennium Falcon! Did yours open up and have the secret compartments and stuff too?
I made a blog post listing my favorite Christmas comics from this year, and this one totally got listed 😀
@Mophtran: You beat me to it. Luckily, I managed to get the Christmas eve shift. Couldn’t believe how busy it was. Go home people! Stop messing up my store!
Most memorable gift? A tiny rubber lizard I cleverly named “lizard.” Made more memorable as my sister secretly stole it from me (she was mad for something). She gave it back a year later or so…on a Christmas.
I got my most memorable gift twice…
Merry Christmas!
Hah, I love it how Biff’s face has that mix of sadness and dissapointment, with a dash of “what the hell?”
The aussie-style fedora I wear everywhere. I’m not sure what my most memorable *childhood* gift was, though…
Castle Grayskull and Thunder Punch He-Man
A close second would be the Air-Raiders craft my grandma got me one year. I was hoping for a NES and was happily disappointed. I got more play out of that thing than I could have imagined. Of course, any toy is cool when it can shoot the missiles at your cousins.
i would have to say my TI-86 was my most memorable gift ever, primarily because when i found out that my little brother was getting a then-new GBA and i was getting a CALCULATOR i cried for at least an hour, but now, i cannot honestly say whether my GBASP or my TI-86 has gotten more useage time…
When I saw the tree, my first thought was that it was a new rocket.
My most memorable x-mas present? It’s a tie between my guitar and a pony.
(Would you believe that I didn’t even want a pony for Christmas?)
Great strip. Merry Christmas! My most memorable gift of X-mas past: A bass guitar. Just a cheap, generic deal. A Rogue 4 string. Pretty good guitar, though, and I still use the amp it came with (mainly because I can’t afford a better one).
Goo Money?
GOO money?
Maybe it’s a typo…
Yeah.
You probably ment goo MONKEY.
When I was very little, I was given a Disney princess jump-rope. It had Cinderella, Belle, and Snow White, I believe, on the handles. It was also pink.
I played with it, of course, because it was a jump rope, and didn’t really worry about the implications. I didn’t recognize any of those women on it, but I had some fun with it anyway. Also, one year(not so long ago as the jump-rope) I got a Bible. It, too, was pink. I still have it, bound in pink leather, on my bookshelf.
I feel sorry for Biff. He looks so by himself. =(
Ah yes….mine was the Millennium Falcon as well! It was HUGE compared to my size, and had the little compartments for my figures and everything….it was the BEST! The runner-up would have been the Eagle spacecraft from Space 1999 – that was huge too!
Merry Christmas 🙂
Most memorable gift i ever got was a titanium spork. :3
What, Olive the other reindeer wasn’t availiable either? lol
Original M. Falcon was the bomb! But my most memorable gift was a wood working set I got a couple years later. I didn’t play with it much, but it had a small kid-sized hammer, and I that same Christmas day I got it, I tried to toss it onto my bed from the hall as I passed, but I overthrew and the damn thing went right through the window and broke glass all over my bed! FAIL
Barson the bucktooth beaver…
Had some very shiney teeth…
And if he ever bit you…
You would bleed for a whole week…
All of the other beavers…
Used to laugh and pull his fur…
Then he gnawed them all in half in their sleep. He was convicted on all counts. Then came prison overcrowding and fifteen years later he’s out on work release, filling in for a reindeer and being let into sleeping people’s houses. Seriously, the courts thought that was a GOOD idea? No, I’m sorry, that’s jut not cool man, not cool.
NINTENDO SIXTY FOOOOOUUUUR
Best Xmas present would be the Atari 2600 I got when I was… Must’ve been about 7?
How do you like that. Most people wouldn’t know what that is 🙁
Best EVER present would be a Transformer called Six-Shot for my 7th b’day. This thing was insanely complicated, and amazingly fun. I still have it, and it still, for the most part, works!
Never will forget the time I got my Pokemon Blue game, not because of the game but because of how my Grandmother gave it to me. I open the package to be disappointed by socks. At which point my mother tells me to count them. In my disappointment I don’t even realize that counting the socks is not normal, so I proceed to open the package and count the socks one by one until “AAAAAAAAAAAH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!”
Yes, I haven’t thought of a Beaver as a substitute mascot for commercial Christmas. I have seen bears, crocs, even camels, but not beavers. Nice one, Chris Hallbeck!
A Verti-bird, from the non politically correct era, so it really flew, and had no safety guards on the rotors. Still have it carefully stored away. My brother and I played with it for years. However what really made it memorable was watching my fighter pilot father and his pilot friends drunkenly playing flying challenges with it, you should have seen the obstacle courses they set up, took some real flying skills to negotiate.
Definitely the electronic keyboard my Mom got me, just because I thought I’d never get one. Oh, the noise I made…
My favorite holiday gift? my iPod. 60 GB, black and only halfway full. (In case any of you are wondering, I’m a music fanatic.)
This is one of my only stories that paints my parents in a good light. One Christmas season, I saw a game in a store, Septerra Core. It was middle-aged even then, but I’d played the demo and it was FUN. So I asked my mom if I could have it and she either said maybe for Christmas or just for Christmas… Anyway, come Christmas Eve (or a few days earlier), we went to the store… And they’d sold the only copy earlier that day. I was so pissed at my mom. Long story short (imagine very unhappy 8-year-old here), it turns out my dad (who was divorced w/ my mum) had gotten that last copy for me. Now I was happy (and that game still ranks as totally epic. Top ten). The wierd part is that I have no idea how my dad knew I wanted it… He never approved of gaming (but he sorta tolerated it) so I don’t think I told him, and my parents hated each other way too much for it to be a dedicated scheme… Oh well, alls well that ends with Runner beaming baddies, eh?
