#604 – Fission

I drink both hot tea and iced tea. It’s weird how when my hot tea cools off it becomes unappealing and I have to warm it back up. That same tea that I make with ice tastes fine when it warms up. Kind of a weird mental thing going on there.

Yes, but radioactive tea tastes the best!

It’s funny how a lot of things in general taste fine when they’re cold or when they’re hot, but not when they’re lukewarm.

    Such as beef pizza.

  2. RainbowAshlyn says:

I have the same problem, but I think it’s because I put milk in hot tea and dislike milk in ice tea… unless it’s chai! Mmm, delicious chai…

  3. SEA says:

vampire biff, that’s weird O-o (voting ftw!)

Personally, some food does taste worse when it’s not hot/cold.

    Radioactive tea, hmm.

  4. SamFisher202 says:

I prefer pizza when it gets lukewarm.

  5. RG says:

Weird idea to keep your food warm… I prefer mine lukewarm.

  6. Steriema says:

I don’t like my tea radioactive. I prefer my pizzas like that… None of both lukewarm.

  7. trueblaze says:

Ya it keeps it warm, but if you leave it in too long it gives your tea a leady tast.

  8. Napalm and Silly Putty Week?

  9. Micah says:

That would explain the snow white skin and the long antennae eyebrows!

  10. SamFisher202 says:

    Don’t forget the baldness. =p

  11. Ian says:

I don’t kno about you guys but I do enjoy a good radioactive cup of tea in the morning. Gives me a nice (un)healthy glow. Don’t forget…now you don’t have to shave in the morning either! 🙂

  12. and the ability to get cut in half…

I still say Biff’s a golem and he is made out of clay.

  13. Mmmm, radioactive tea! Hey Biff, where can I get some of those fuel rods? Do you think they give them away at Limerick? 😀

P.S. Limerick is my local Nuke Power plant.

  14. Chris says:

    @SEA – Today’s Biffatar will bite!

  15. Jackson says:

Hey, now he can forgo his nightly plutonium shakes before jogging. A more efficient way to start your day!

  16. MaskedMan says:

Ah, time for some Nuc humor…

Biff washed his hair, now his head is bare… with Isotope Soap!
Biff washed his head, now his brain is dead… with Isotope Soap!

Ten points to the first person who can identify the source of those lines!

  17. Ian says:

@Maskedman…it’s from the band Isotope Soap based from Santa Rose, California!

  18. bizzybody says:

Just a bit of grammar pedantry… should be rod keeps or rods keep, not rods keeps or rod keep. Don’t like it? Complain to James Parton.

  19. Dzelda says:

I get the distinct feeling that this is a bad idea………..

Tis what Biff SHOULD be thinkin. XD

  20. no name says:

    Yumm… nuclear energy.

  21. Chris says:

@bizzybody – You are totally right. That’s why I have a very good editor go through the comics when I get them ready for the books. 🙂

  22. clayton says:

The reason it tastes different hot and cold vs luke warm has to do with the uptake of the chemicals into your tastebuds. higher and lower temperatures filter out a large amount of information because the tempurature is too far outside a range where absorbtion can happen but when its luke warm all the tastes get through because they are the optimal tempurature for uptake. Science is fun.

  23. Gato says:

Oh my. Be careful of fallout, Biff!

  24. Dzelda says:

    @clayton

    I think mah brain broke.

    @Biff
If Biff is already stupid enough to drink radioactive tea, then he wont notice the radiation sickness either Ill bet, well, until he wakes up with a Lobster Arm or a Fox Tail or two. 😛

  25. Speakerblast says:

My chemistry teacher says nuclear power is totally safe.

Then again, they don’t drink it.

  26. Haywire says:

    Mmmm… zesty.

  27. Trevor says:

I wonder what he origanilly used thosse rods for…

  28. SEA says:

I wonder what would happen if the vampire biff bites you.

Would you biff-ify? Losing your hair and growing eyebrows?

    …*shudders*

  29. Cpt.Ziggy says:

    that would be awsome!

  30. no name says:

    What’s vampire biff?

  31. bizzybody says:

When will genetic engineering science produce tea and coffee that taste as good as they smell?

  32. Dzelda says:

Well, Ill certainly be surprised if they can make a sugarless soda that actually tastes good. Without using radioactive sticks to hide the suckiness of it. XD

  33. Oh cold tea. Grr.
Every morning I awake & shake my fist at the sky cursing the creation of latent enthralpy.

  34. omicron says:

    MacGyver week?

  35. Beer Baron says:

I’m a new reader. I stumbled on the site through an ad on another comic. I just spent all weekend reading all of them. Now I’m hooked.

  36. MaskedMan says:

    @Ian;
Actually, pretty sure it’s Geza X (aka Geza Gedeon), as released on the albums “Let Them Eat Jellybeans” (1981) and “You G-D Kids*” (2002).
Som pretty seriously bizarre punk there… I’m sure Biff would approve.

*Album title edited to make PG-13.

  37. speearr says:

Dang! Now I know how I lost that last ebay bid for nuclear fuel rods… stop popularising them, Chris!

  38. Bamko says:

Well, when you make hot tea, the tea releases more tannins, which are bitter, and become more so, when it cools.

If you make ice tea cold, the tannins stay in the tea leaves (for the most part) making a less bitter tea.

You will find some people make ice tea by boiling it, then cooling it. These are the same people who put a lot of sugar in the tea (usually) thus they do nto notice the bitterness and can not understand why anyone would take their tea without sugar.

Cold brewed tea… yummy at any temp, without sugar.

Hot brewed tea… ok hot.. but cold… better be making a saturated sugar solution… or like it bitter.

  39. jykcor says:

    Carbon rod!!!!!!!

reember that episode of the simpsons where Homer goes into space?

  40. Zach Light says:

the negative effect, theres that taste and effect of radiation.

  41. Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos says:

I love tea too! I’m even pickier though. It has to be loose leaf brewed in a pot, and it has to be fresh. If it cools down it’s too stale and I have to pour it out.
