#1641 – Cemented

As a kid I always wanted to write my name or leave my handprint in a freshly poured sidewalk. I never got the chance. There was a section of one that had leaf impressions that were really cool looking. My favorite though was one where someone accidentally walked through it. The first few footprints are normal but then they freak out and smear off to the side. I wonder if that person walked by it and laughed or cringed each time.

  1. The only time I’ve ever seen handprints in concrete was at Liseberg (an amusement park in Göteborg/Gothenburg), and they were supposed to be there, as they are from various famous people who have been there.

I don’t know for sure, but I guess that if someone would make handprints in concrete here in Sweden when they’re not supposed to, the handprints would probably be removed (or covered with more concrete, but that’s sort of the same thing).

I’d like to put some pics and a .doc file on a memory card or thumb drive, and stick it some wet cement, sealed up for protection, of course. Make someone in the distant future wonder why there are pictures of my foot, and several pages of dirty limericks.

There’s something like that near where I live. However, the foot prints (I’m assuming they are foot prints) were normal the whole way and were filled up with more concrete. It’s still obvious since they filled it in with a slightly different color.

Most sidewalks in Europe are bitumised like the roads. So no prints of anything there.

In the house I grew up in, there was a (kind of wobbly) print of my 2-year-old foot at the start of the path. And in the carport, my name and birthday were written.
All the concrete was finished by the time my brother came along, hahaha.
