#1482 – Cone

I don’t particularly enjoy going to see doctors. One of the happiest moments of my life was when I had an appointment cancelled by a snowstorm. The actual appointments are usually fine though. I think it’s the loss of control that must get to me. Maybe I’m just afraid that I’ll be told I can no longer eat potato chips for breakfast.

  1. I haven’t seen a doctor that many times, so I don’t have any interesting doctor stories to share with everyone… But maybe that’s just a good thing?

Those cone thingies, by the way… It’s really important that they are of the right size! I had a cat a long time ago that got a cone thingy that was too short (she had had surgery), and she bit some of the stitches off! …Lucky she didn’t open herself up by doing this though!

I am verrrry uncomfortable around needles. Of course, that means that many of my clinic visits involved needles coming at me.

Having 2 kids, I’ve had my share of doctor visits (not for me – for the wife and kids. I get to play observer.) Through the pregnancy experiences, I have learned that I have an interesting sense of queasiness – when my daughter was born via c-section, they let me watch the whole thing and I was fine. My son was born naturally, and my wife had an epidural – when getting the epidural I almost threw up (even though I couldn’t even see what the doctor was doing).

i had to get a protective cone for my guinea pig. it was pretty funny, since guinea pigs don’t really have necks.
