#1455 – Farther

For some reason having food delivered makes me uncomfortable. I don’t have a convenient place to complete the transaction by my front door so I wind up just walking out onto the front step. Then I get handed the food but wait I need to sign something so I’ll just put this down and then I have to sign a receipt floating in mid air and quickly calculate a good tip in my head and please someone get the dog to stop barking. I’ll just have a bowl of cereal for dinner next time.

Today’s Maximumble is thirsty.

30 Lightyears or less, or it’s free!

lightyears are a measure of distance, you’re saying they only charge local residents of the galaxy.

There is no relative measurement in time. Take it as a joke and stop overanalyzing it. D:

  2. I’ve never had food delivered to the front door, because in Sweden you always have to go get the pizza (or whatever it is) at the restaurant yourself. That’s just the way it is here.

Oh, but we have pizza delivery where I live. It’s just one of the pizzerias though, so I guess it’s not very usual.

      1. I didn’t even know pizza delivery existed in Sweden! But hey, I live in a small village in the middle of nowhere… (Or maybe at the edge of the world)

There seems to be a lot of things available in Sweden that I thought were exclusive to other countries, and that I’m simply not aware of this because I just stay here at the world’s end all the time.

I live in a dump pretty close to Gothenburg. One hour by bus. So I guess I’m “closer to civilization” or something like that? ^^’

          1. And I live about half an hour away from Helsingborg (not sure if Helsingborg’s called something else in English), but it still *feels* as if I live in the middle of nowhere, which is on the edge of the world… 😛

We had a relative who lived a couple of blocks down the street from us, and when we had pizza delivered, she’d show up. So we started having him come from the alley to the back door.

Yeah, but it will probably be cold.

Down the alley way would be my least favorite place to have to deliver.@kingklash

Biff apparently owns a small moon, awesome.

We live too far away from everywhere for any restaurants to do delivery. But it’s probably just as well, since no one can ever find our house anyway.

I remember my sister always had a bowl of cereal for dinner.
She was almost-nocturnal at that time, though.

University towns: Pizza delivery havens. Did the delivery thing back in the day of 30 min or less, but I was with another company at the time. But to compete we still had to make the same schedule for deliveries. Which can be interesting in a town that has up to a half dozen unconnected streets with the same name. Is this the Holden Street with the 1500 block, or is it the one on the other side of town, or is it the one on the north side….

That wouldn’t have been Bloomington, IN, would it? That place has an a-maze-ingly complex street layout inside and around the IU campus.

As a delivery driver I will say this(if it is a box food, such as pizza) make them hold the pizza, then use the top of the box to sign- also we dont mind the dogs barking, it’s more annoying when the owners are yelling at a dog. also, putting a small table right outside your door makes this go a lot better
