#1408 – Hours

I had an office salaried job that didn’t work out for me. My department was made up of designers of varying skills and speeds. We were all assigned different projects of varying complexity. For some reason management was not concerned with the quality, quantity or timeliness of our designs. The attribute they valued most was the number of hours you were physically in the building.

Today’s Maximumble fights the machine.

I’d say Biff was lucky to get this. His employers could have just added a lever to his chair that stretched it out flat and added a blanket to the set.

Blankets..? For true management evil, you raise the temperature and humidity settings to ‘tropical jungle.’ Even when you’re in Saskatchewan, it’s impossible to concentrate and stay awake, thus ensuring that folks are always sleepy and behind-schedule on their projects – AND you don’t need blankets for when the employees fall asleep at their desks.

Now is when you need to build that sleepaway desk George Costanza came up with.

I work part-time at a local restaurant and the manager there doesn’t care about quality–she just wants you to work as few hours as possible so that she can pay you the least amount of money. It is also not uncommon for her to tweak with your hours so that you get paid less.

Would love to see that bed with as many levers and such as his chair..

I would love it if I had a bed at work. I would have a place to nap in the afternoon.
