I think I’ve used a ladder about 20% of the times that I’ve needed one in my life. Why go all the way to the closet in the other room when there is a perfectly good chair right in front of me? I could just stand on the bed and lean on the dresser. Surely those empty cardboard boxes will do fine. What could go wrong if I climb up onto my swiveling office chair on wheels?

For hammering nails at a distance, you can’t beat using a PVC pipe and a firecracker.

I live on my own and am height challenged. So I climb up on countertops to reach the top shelves or my rolly-wheeled desk chair. I should probably get a step ladder though…
