#1308 – Lacrimation

I cry a lot. Weddings, funerals, movies, TV shows, books, a really good guitar solo in a song I havent heard in awhile. It’s happened in front of paintings at a museum as well. I get an overwhelming burst of emotion that forcibly exits my body through my eyeballs. There’s probably a really specific German word for it. Just yesterday I teared up reading an old Spider-Man comic book.

Today’s Maximumble is delicious.

You sound like me. I cry more than my wife … well, not recently. She was pregnant until just recently. That condition resolved itself. But, now we have this thing in our house that makes her emotional as well.

Despite all of that, though, I am probably still more emotional. I cry at things that I probably shouldn’t cry at. I even ask myself, “Why am I crying at this?”

  2. my brother is emo he threw an emo fit because i bumped him

  3. Vizen says:

Sounds like you got either a Pisces or a Cancer moon…
Man I read way too much Astrology books.

  4. a German says:

Now I’m curious: What word do you mean?

  5. The German says:

    “Heulsuse”.

  6. Penthoplayer says:

My eyes just water up over nothing. I have to keep myself from crying when I have nothing to cry about, because of this.

Soap Opera Marathons? They have those? I remember some soap opera from way, way back that had three (3) twins at the same time. One was a good-superintelligent/evil-stupid set. Another was a sister making herself look like her more-popular sister. Yet, the last one was two people that simply happened to look exactly alike but had absolutely no relation to each other with the real one missing and the second one showing up with amnesia and being mistaken for the missing one that showed up shortly after the wrong one appeared. That’s pretty much all I remember from that. I mean, who could really forget that?

  8. MaskedMan says:

    Also prone to tears.
Especially when really, really angry, for some reason.

If you ever see me weeping for no known reason, you should probably find somewhere else to be.

  9. Vabolo says:

I have quite the opposite condition; I almost only cry if my eyes must evacuate a bee or something. It took the death of my beloved aunt to make me cry from the heart, and I would honestly prefer to be able to cry easier, because something about not showing your emotion through your lacrimal glands seems to take away from your humanity.

  10. LazerWulf says:

I’d rather watch a horror marathon than a soap opera marathon. I guess you could say I’d trade my tears for fears.

I’m sorry. That was terrible, but I felt it needed to be said.

  11. Mophtran says:

I get goosebumps and chills during my favorite songs (they must do this as a prerequisite) and sometimes my eyes tear up during the more emotional parts of other media. The only thing that makes me cry are matters of the heart. And if I’m during those matters of the heart moments, then one of my favorite songs will probably make me cry.

Been doing a bit of that lately, unfortunately.

  12. Malcar says:

I remember one time I cried when a Christmas tree got cut down in a holiday cartoon. Glad I’m not the only one who cries over the littlest things.

  13. Bear Grylls says:

This soap opera is pretty sad.

    Better drink my own tears.

  14. das-g says:

    “rührselig”, maybe?

  15. Wizard says:

Am I the only one thinking “Dune” here?

  16. Jesso says:

I cry at the drop of a hat, too. I’ve had to put down books to sob (The Book Thief, anyone?) and pause movies/tv shows because I can’t hear the dialog over my crying (that episode of Avatar where Appa is lost? ALL THE TEARS). Luckily, I’ve gotten good at holding it in when I’m around other people, so I don’t look like a complete loon in front of others.

  17. Rex says:

    @Wizard

I’m thinking The 6th Day, with Arnold swarzunpronounceable

  18. Candlejack says:

I’m the exact opposite. I only cry if I think about something really sad for a really long time.

  19. Taz says:

Totally skimmed the comments for “Fremen” and “Dune”.

    1. raindrum says:

And I just skimmed for Doctor Strangelove.

  20. raindrum says:

    Precious bodily fluids?

Biff is General Ripper from Doctor Strangelove?
