#1211 – Detour

Hitting a detour sign on the way to work was always a nightmare. My work route is a carefully honed meandering trail of beauty. Any slight deviation and it all falls apart. I have to blindly follow someone else’s prescribed path and suffer through the crawling traffic jam that results. I knew I was in trouble when the radio show I was listening to looped around to the beginning again.

On the plus side, there was also a giant M&M.

  2. Gwid says:

Once, the highway we use to get home got blocked off because of an accident. We used a round-about route through a dirt road with foot-deep holes everywhere and it was basically a dust storm if you wanted to look outside. It took us 3 hours longer than usual.
And apparently, it was meant to be better now – it was worse before.

On another note; Biff got a new car! Or he just painted one of them yellow. Or I’m just crazy and have missed it until now.

If he had his green invisible car, he could say that his car broke down and he had to walk there.

Maybe he was busy repainting it with a different colour of invisible paint.

    Work delays week!

Biff’s just not making it into work at all this week… but at least he has creative excuses! Am hoping to use the giant Midwest snowstorm excuse tomorrow myself.

last year while i was employed for two weeks it happened at least twice that I had to leave the planned route – in an area where I abso-effing-lutely had no clue where I am. Plus, it was 5 am. In winter. When the shit hits the fan, it hits it good.

At least Biff got past the tooth brush today. Tomorrow, he must face… The Company Parking Lot! (Duhn Duhn DUHN!)

  8. i am only 13 so i don’t go to work but the day after Halloween last year instead of walking on the side of the road safe from any cars i had to use the alternative path which fortunately pass’ by sonic where my sister gave me an onion ring the the road by sonic’s traffic lights were acting funny i waited 30 minutes to see the cross walk open for walking

@ MaskMan–that’s assuming he makes it that far…

  10. MaskMan says:

@Cari; Good point. There’s still the Gate Security Guard, too… Plus traffic lights, and maybe even rail crossings. <.<

  11. Kree says:

Biff is lucky, the only delays I get are the incidents in which a truck driver destroys a boom gate at a level crossing. It’s a scarily consistent occurrence.

I remember having to take detours when I lived in the forest. If it flooded, we’d have to take the long way to school.
