#1168 – Congeal

Back when I lived in Grand Rapids I had friends visiting from out of town and we went to the local grocery store to pick up some supplies. We found a box of Lucky charms on the shelf that was over a year past its sell-by date. It must have been on that shelf for years at that point. To test that out we left it there and every time my friends came back over the next year we would stop by to see how our little pet box of cereal was doing. I’m guessing by now it must be gone… Lucky Charms just wasn’t very popular in that neighborhood.

That reminds me of our local grocery/video rental/gas station/post office/deli/sandwich store. Some of the stuff in there seems iffy. I don’t buy much when I go except hot dogs and Lactaid that is recent.

Heh! That bowl of Noodle Bran resembles the mess my daughter makes when she over-cooks a pot of pasta…

I live in GR. What store was it? I could totally check for you.

That’s actually happened to me once, when I left a bowl of milk out for who-knows-how-long, then got out some cereal one day, mistook the bowl of old milk for cereal and tried to eat it. Fun.

I must add is Biff’s head slowly getting rounder… and rounder… and rounder? It’s been bugging me for a while now. Maybe I just didn’t notice it.

in highschool, we learned that milk was a heterogeneous mixture that will settle out over time. I was half skeptical.

In University, my boyfriend came over to my house one day and took out a bag of frozen milk (I live in Canada. Milk come in plastic bags.) to defrost in my wok without telling me. By coincidence, the next few days I ate out or ate at my boyfriend’s place, so didn’t have to use my own wok. When I finally found the milk, it had settled nicely into a solid white layer on the bottom and almost clear liquid on top. Good to know that my highschool science teacher did not lie to me.

so… is it just the noodle bran reduced or is it the milk aswell?
also, im definite the theme is money-related, now.
    hooray for over-obsessive nerdiness!

…I just left this comment for an hour and forgot how I was going to end it. goodnight.

@Acies: So do you suppose maybe that the theme this week is a heterogeneous notion that will settle into some sort of apparent homogenization by the weekend?

  10. Chaos Kiwi says:

    Price week?

  11. Acies says:

@ i.half4: if by “apparent homogenization” you mean separating this week’s theme into separate homogeneous ideas, then maybe. But tomorrow’s stripe will have to contain separate phases! Alternatively, if you mean that the theme appeared to be a heterogeneous notion all along, but will appear homogeneous by the end (in reverse of what happened to my milk), then what we need is not “settling”… we need some stirring!

  12. i.half4 says:

@Acies: OK, you got me. I meant a week that seemed to jump from one possible theme to another might settle on a single theme that connected them all by Friday. But you’re quite right, to fit the milk analogy that would take stirring, not settling. But then it’s friday now. I’m still lost.

But it’s Friday now, and I’m still not finding it. Random week?

  13. MadDavid says:

    i.half4: It was “cheap” week.

  14. i.half4 says:

Acies: Oh, right. How did I miss that? Well, shark DNA in the water was kind of a red herring.

Oh gawd! that looks like the bowl of cerial I found in the living room the other day. My house mate left it there while I was away for a week. Moved the spoon and the whole mass went with it. Thought I was going to be sick!
