Hi.

It's about your gas-prices: You don't know how high they are here! 1 Liter costs about 1,40 €.

(Wikipedia says, a gallon is about 3,7 litres, I don't think, there's much diefference between € and $.

To my understanding, US gas prices are, and have always been, less expensive than everywhere else due to notional and state taxations and subsidies... but everyone here is used to lower prices, so they get bent out of shape when they rise, even if they don't match what other countries pay. It's that comfortable standardized expectation... if people went to get gas in Califnornia today and it cost $2.95, they'd say, 'Wow! It's under three dollars! How great is that!?' completely ignoring the fact that it was consistently $2.50 and under a year ago or whatever. So is the rising prices of gas lately merely keeping up with purchasing and import costs, inflation, or is America trying to raise gas prices to make it more even to Europe in a pace slow enough that the public will accept it? Maybe it's some ploy to get people focusing more on alternate fuels? Oh, look at my conspiracy theories!

All I have to say is that if gas prices are really being artificially pushed to raise, the public transit standards also need to be raised. What can take me twenty minutes to drive can take two hours on public transit! Something I could drive in an hour can take five hours or more! That's not practical at all for me. Sad

The gas prices are rising due to overuse

Yea, supply and demand. I really do think it's more complicated than that though. ._.?

I think it's more than that, because recently the price of oil per barrel dropped somewhere between a quarter and a dollar, and the price of gas continued to rise.

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents (people begin to grumble)

Drop 10 cents!!! WOOO look at the big price drop yeah i guess we shouldn't complain anymore.

...

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents

Raise 3 cents (Grumble again)

Drop 10 cents YAY thats the 2nd time its gone down a whole 10 cents!!

And that, ladies and gentleman, is how thy keep us complacent about gas prices while still managing to creep them up to 300% of what it was 20 years ago.

That reminds me of cable costs in a way. but yea, I don't agree of how prices are being raised. I do think it's good that they're becoming more on par with most other countries, but in the US, the profit is still going to all the wrong things to help public affairs much, if any. :/

Most everything is raising in price like that. I'd call it inflation, but this is beyond that.

I'm happy as long as produce prices don't suddenly jump 500% over the course of two years.... but I guess you never know what'll happen when water supplies start getting tighter....

Besides, we can't run out of water.  The Earth is 70% water.  We just need to desalinize ocean water to have drinking water, and I know it can be done.

No, water cleans itself by rivers and stuff. Technically, you are drinking 100,000,000 year old dino wee.

It clears itsself until you pollute it to some critical amount! Any further contamination will result in a collapse of the ecological system. And that's the oversimplified version I was taught long ago in school (6th grade or so).

Sort of.  I'm talking about mass desalinization...from the middle of the ocean...where there are no rivers...

3.80/gal.

For my truck, it guzzles so much gas. It's 50$ for a tank! Man, If I had a bike, that's like an extra videogame every few days.

How often do you have to fill your tank Mii? It takes about $40 right now for me to fill the tank on my van, but I only have to do it between one and three times a month depending on how much I drive around.

Why not get a bike?

Generally things like evaporation and percolation and that sort of thing will take pollutants out of water and be cleared up by bacteria and anaerobic processes and all that, but there is no full proof natural way to do that with high amounts of anything, as well as some viruses, bacteria, etc. Desalinization can be done now, but it's got the same argument against it as photo voltaic cells. The technology isn't cheap and efficient enough to be cost effective against the other options currently out on the market. The major problem with desalinization is mineral build up on the equipment... all that salt and noise and stuff, wowie.

I would bike if it could realistically work with my schedule. :/ I'm sort of waiting for a solar powered car... Smiley

That can be easily fixed by the right age, a little reading, and generally about thirty dollars and two appointments over a two week period of time. Cheesy
