I think that things like cobblers and crisps are way under rated but are way better than pie and cake, they have the commplexity in flavor that a pie has, but without the unpleasant ness of a flakey crust that is manadtory with most pies, unless you have a gahram cracker crust. Plus crips and cobblers have a wonder full texture that can go with anything, espesialy ice cream. That's an important part of dessert, how well it goes with ice cream. I mean Cake and ice cream go well together, but you can;t eat both in the same bite, so they are good near eacother, but they don't go with each other. Pie and ice cream go well together, but with puie, ice cream can just as easily be replaced with whipped cream. On cobblers and crisps, the ice cream can go right on top and be eaten with the main dish, when you do this, you gain the taste of the ice cream, but you don't lose the flavor of the main dessert, unlike cake.  |
