YES.
Destroying boxes was always fun...something about the sound of ripping cardboard...
but then it's gone. That part is sad.

Yes, destroying cardboard boxes is almost as fun as popping bubblewrap.

Sadly, those days are over now. Kids these days (damn I feel old now) are more interested in the TV than the box. And plasma screen and LCD TV's don't come in boxes wide enough to make a fort. We'll miss you, cathode ray tubes!

Alas, all too true. It's not the same everywhere, but most of the kids I babysit insist on playing video games whenever I come over. All of the toys they have are just merchandise. It's fun for me because I don't play video games on a regular basis, but It's kinda sad watching them be completely disinterested in doing anything else. Though the other day we did spend a good amount of time playing with Moonsand! I wish I had that stuff when I was a kid, it rocked!

Moon Sand and Play-Doh are totally different.
I just saw recently a commercial for what I thought of as the "#1 toy I wish I had when I was a kid". I was this thing that could blow bubble baths for you without having to run the water more, so when your bubbles invariably popped five minutes after you stopped filling the bath, you didn't have to drain the bath and refill it. Awesome. Like Biff, I was a big fan of bubble baths.

I would have used that thing so much! I perfected the art of 'mixing up the unbubbly bubble bath with only a little bit of water and the use of my hands' in my later childhood, but it never quite got the same results...
And yeah, moon sand is way different than play-doh. It's more like sand that has the perfect amount of water in it, but then it keeps it's shape easier. It's fun stuff.
It probably would have been better if they hadn't mixed all the colors together, but as it was it was kinda cool because it sort of looked like real sand.

Bah. You whippersnappers with your automatic bubble baths and Moon Sands. In my day, we had a jar of lake water and mud!

So did I. I just happened to be babysitting these 'young whippersnappers' of which you speak. I'm older than you, by the way.

I remember once when I was moving in to a house... There was one empty room left where my parents kept throwing the empty boxes. My two brothers and I built a giant fort out of it with long halls to crawl through and even a tower or two. Well, they did most of the building. But it was still fun, damnit!

He's either saying that there were four of them, not three, or he misunderstood your post and thought that you were asking if he was three years old at the time... Probably the first one...
