A heated discussion begot from a friend and I discussing earths creation. I (Being a Christian) Argued that the earth was created by God. He said that earth was created by the slim chance of the earth being just close enough that it could sustain life. Later on in the discussion, he began telling me about the Chaos Theory. He said that we as human have no choices, He argues that no matter what, whatever is going to happen (sooner or later) will happen. The Chaos theory (in my understanding of it.) is a complete farce. Devoid of any legitimate proof or demonstrations. Is my understanding of this theory correct? Discuss.

No it's not. It's pretty far off, in fact. We, however, are not experts or theorists, and are a bad choice for whom to go to. Try the internet. Or books.

I believe strongly in the law of large numbers, and that anything can happen given an infinite time span. The conclusion I've reached is that we're here by a series of random occurrences. A lot of people think that it's random occurrences and luck, but luck has nothing to do with it. There's bound to be a life-ready planet around the universe, and this one happened to be one. If this one hadn't have worked out, then we wouldn't be here to wonder why we're here. I had an interesting epiphany years ago about why we as living beings strive to live. I realized that it wasn't some divine calling or coincidence, but just that the things that never tried to survive died out. It's surprisingly simple, but often overlooked, I feel. It really rewrote my existential views.

I once heard an interesting podcast concerning that....it's very difficult to explain, but that was the basic premise. I'll see if I can find it... Yeah, this is something that I find glaringly obvious, but people always ask "WHY???" I figured it out sometime around middle school. It wasn't very clear, but I had the basic idea. It's only been reinforced with time.

Depending on your beliefs, it is possible that things happened the way they did because someone wanted them to. I really get irritated when atheists act like theirs is the only logical belief system; thy have as little proof as any religion.

This is true. However, it goes both ways. I get irritated when ANYBODY acts like their religion is the only one that's right. I choose Norse Mythology! : D

That's one of the main reasons I'm agnostic.
Also, I'm not saying that you have to believe what I do; I'm just saying that's what makes sense to me (I'm sure most of you know this, but it's better to be safe than sorry).

You may take solace Ms. Scarf in the fact that there are already calculators that can do it much faster than you ever will.

That's why mine is waterproof. On religion: I personally choose to believe in the God of Abraham. Here you've got one guy who ended up spawning three (well, two and a spinoff) major religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. He must've had something going for him. (my opinion; I understand that this is hardly ironclad evidence of God's existence)

I knew my understanding of it was wrong. (or it was his telling of it)
On calculators: Yes I do enjoy my many calculators I have one on my computer, one in my backpack and one on my Desk. I dont think I use them correctly, I have never had to clean mine. Please tell me how you use yours, in excruciatingly orgasmic detail.

The vocab sheets take friggin FOREVER. I can't do them. There are too many words all stacked up and jumbled and you have to keep covering them up and write the number, and the number isn't important but you have to put it there anyways, and then half of the words are from the other one, but I keep skipping them because there's so many all in a row and they're all handwritten and it's not that great of penmenship and it's [/rant]
