Okay, this has been bothering for a while, Amanda; I just went through all your old posts to see if it had been answered, but no...

What is your avatar? And why?

Chomp?

Chomp is an old joke between Chris and I... I did a google image search for "chomp" and that picture came up.. i just thought it was funny / cute.

Where are you from?: America...but I want to move to England..
what do you study?: I'm still in High school, I am into Art...
How old are you?: 15!
Hobbies? Drawing and Singing, mainly. I am learning to play base, and I did tap dance awhile back.
pets? one dead dog, sorry.
Favorite web sites?: thebookofbiff.com, anyone heard of it?
Books / movies?: er...Harry Potter...but I read more books than anyone I know...
And anything else you would like to add!
My name, "the Crow again" was inspired by comic 126, where Bach wrote an excellent poem. I soon changed my mind, wanting to stay "the Scarf" but it was to late!

EDIT: Chris rules...he changed my name!
Also, I like a huge amount of books....not just the potter series...

"The Scarf" is based off of the show Doctor Who, where in the 70s, Tom Baker, playing the Doctor, wore a long, multi colored scarf. I love that thing...

Being in America slurps! We have so many commercial breaks on TV, that when british shows get aired on our channels, bits get cut off to make more room!
We don't have cool accents, and I hate the awful reputation we have in other countries.

Also, I went there for two weeks to stay with a family in Devon, and I loved it so much!
They had baby ducks!

Kentan, you're sort of the unofficial welcome comity, aren't you?

I try to be Cheesy
I used to go to Devon every year on holiday, specifically, Devon Cliffs. It was pretty good. Then we got to stay in the bungalow that the Fire Service gave to our family (my Dad's a firefighter, whoo) because my brother is asthmatic, even though my parents are divorced.
Bungalow > caravan   Cheesy
I'd much rather be in Japan (hooray for non-patriotism!).

that is so rawkin! I never got to see the Cliffs, but I got to go to london on a day trip.

If I go again, I want to visit Cardiff, to see the location of Torchwood. I wanna see the fountain!!!!

I dunno about Japan...I'd like to visit, but I'd hate to go to school there...most people who want to go there are basing their opinions on media...anime schools and such...but really, they are so oppressive during school, and the social expectations are very high. It would be difficult for me to fit in, especially because of my weight.

Heh, also, I've read the "Japanese School teacher" editorials...http://www.outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher1.html
sooo freakin hilarious!

Basically, it all comes down to the old adage 'familiarity breeds contempt'; as you live for years in a country, you see its flaws more and more: commercial breaks, bad reputation, lack of cool accents(debatable, y'all). When you visit, you see new scenery and baby ducks. Few people are truly content where they live; we all have this voice that says, "ooh, Japan is a technological Eden; Britain has a much better social situation; Look at Switzerland's economy.". Frankly, no matter where you go, there're going to be problems to deal with, so I figure it's best to stay where you are and save the trouble of emigration. Of course, traveling is fun, and some-times there's a pressing reason to go some-where, but on the whole...

I get to go to Japan this summer for 10 days for a mission trip. I'm looking forward to it, but yet, at the same time, I'm nervous. Nervous because this will be my second time out of the country (my first was Toronto, Canada, but it didn't feel different).

Anywho, I would really love to visit: Japan, Scotland (and visit my family's castles), Ireland, England, and Germany.

Orangey, you are correct...
But I also love where I live, not as it is America, but because of its awesome attitude towards the environment, and art.

I still wanna go to England though. *sticks out tongue*

Hooray for Shy and The Scarf! Cheesy
Although I would like to go to Japan, I wouldn't do it based on the depiction of their schools in anime. I plan to go when I've finished college, but before university, as I'll have (hopefully) built up enough money to go there and get accommodation.
(Oh, and Scarf, don't get too close to the fountain. You might turn invisible and get lost by your family Shocked)

It's getting boring now. We're going over for New Year's Day which should be fun though, as they have parades and parties in the town square near our apartment. Free food!
