A mule can either mean a donkey-horse crossbreed, OR a male donkey-female horse crossbreed. A hinny is a male horse-female donkey crossbreed.

Also, both of those (mules and hinnies) are infertile. See, horses and donkeys are closely related enough to produce offspring, just not FERTILE offspring. Sort of like Lions and Tigers.
