It just kinda came off as passive aggressive, since it happened right as I asked why I was the 'starter' of this tread... Just mis-communication, I suppose.

PS, @ Silf and King: I'll be back on in ~ 30 min.

I changed it before seeing that post, it wasn't a reaction to that.

I'm too lazy to think of a good word to put here., name changing is fun. But Orangey Captain has pulled off a simultaneous name/avatar switch, after never having changed either before. Confusing, it is. [/Yoda]

Heh...I left after forcing Orangey...er....Captain to critique my work, I come back, Orangey is a Captain, the thread title is changed, and Silf is no longer non powerful.

I really like critique. I thrive off of it. If you give an honest critique and give reasons for your opinions, I am likely to listen and make changes accordingly. So, for future reference, don't be afraid to be mean to my art.

Is that what you really look like, or what you wish you looked like? Cheesy

But I kid. I like the use of the "the crow again" script.

Thanks...its not quite as good as last time...but then, what is?

My hair isn't quite that long anymore...I drew it, then got a haircut, but other than that, its pretty accurate. I own those boots, the pants are a dark purple, and though I don't own that shirt, I have something similar...
I drew my base pretty accurately too...

Of course, I'm butt at drawing real people, so I'm sure If I posted my picture you would say I don't look anything like that....

oh, and my eyes aren't completely black. I just got lazy.

Haha, thanks, but really, despite how hard I tried to make it look like me....It probably doesn't, as no one has commented on it in real life....

I definatly got inspired by Burton on that, I've been watching the Nightmare Before Christmas recently... Tongue

Yeah...Luckily, I rarely go to hot topic, and I don't hang out with that group much, so I'm able to avoid the brunt of it.

On another note, should I be worried that I'm getting more complements on the lettering rather than the picture itself?

Not necessarily; the drawing is good, but the lettering is EXCELLENT. The letters are more striking, but that doesn't mean the picture's bad.

Well, I'm glad you all like my lettering skillz, especially as my actual handwriting is Terrible. Considering I don't really do lettering that often, its surprising how much you all like it...

I love it. The font is bold and unique that catches your gaze. If you were to apply that style to the art, it would be equaly entriging.

How do I make my art look spiky? I do the lettering by lightly sketching out the words, then drawing over them in stylized lines...Then I make it super dark and spiffy...

How would I make my art like that?

I can't say, you'se just gonna have to experiment. Get a big piece of paper and doodle. I'm doing that now with female figure, something I have never done.

Oh, have fun with that. I find that female figures are more fun to draw. Guys are too boxy. Tongue

I've been experimenting with different style for awhile. I think I'll try the lettering thing next...

I have never drew any females beyond stick figures with long hair and dresses. I guess it is derived with the familiarity with a certain gender.

Yeah...but I've talked to lots of other people who agree....and others who prefer drawing guys, but all of their guys are really girly....Thats why anime guys are all so freakishly pretty. All of the artists like drawing girls, but don't want to have an All-girl cast...
Unfortunately, I got stuck in a rut, and I'm having trouble drawing more buff guys, which gets in the way of my minor hobby of making up super-heroes...I'm going to ask my friend for tips, but her art style is a tad bit generic...

Muscles are quite easy. I'll upload a samle on my DevArt. Guys come in two styles for me: buff or gangly, like me.

I'm having more trouble with backs. When in doubt, refer to your local professional ballet studio. I've gone a few times for reference...those guys are perfect for art reference, because their muscles are really well developed, but not in a body-builder way. I haven't been able to go recently though, and I really need to work on structure...

I took my sketchbook to the BodyWorlds3 exibit, but that was awhile ago, and my art has improved since then....

I rarely do when I'm actually drawing, but for me it helps to study and make some practice sketches...
