heh, yeah...actually I'm drawing more of that one dude...His glasses are square, though, and he wears turtlenecks...He's also actually a phantom who feeds off the life force of humans...

I agree...however...Phantoms can take on human forms, and if they become attached to their host, they can choose to stop the life flow. However, they cannot choose another host, and will die.

Then write it; it doesn't have to be illustrated.

Use a ghostwriter. You have ideas but can't write, find someone who can write but has no ideas.

The first picture...drawn a bit after halloween.

A page of info about them...sorry if you can't read it.

Well, first, on his human form, his tie needs to be longer; also, (and this is mostly a stylistic choice) in real life, hair like that wouldn't really fan out: it'd be more slack and narrow.

I have much better things to say about the phantom form though: you got the proportions just right; they're just far enough from human to be slightly creepy with-out looking cartoony; the tendrils coming off his 'inner' body look good, and aren't too numerous or sparse; I really like the hands. A lot. I can't put my finger on why though. The face looks pretty cool (and reminds me of some-thing form Wind Waker), but you might want to consider using a finer point (even a mechanical pencil) to draw it, so the lines come out crisper. On his legs, don't draw the horizontal curves; just let it fade out. I could take or leave the swirly thing; it looks unbalanced, but I can't think how to fix it.

(PS, she made me do it!)

Yay! Advice and critique! Thank you! I will take your suggestions to heart...

Oh, but I'd like to mention that he doesn't wear a tie anymore... I wasn't sure where I was going with the picture, and I added the tie because I didn't know what to do...He wears very stylish turtlenecks now...I have a better standing on his character, and on how he looks. The hair is ridiculous, I agree, but I think I was making it parallel with the true forms arm...dunno why...

I'm really proud of the way the hands turned out on the phantom, especially because one of them looked really wonky for a long time...I fixed it right before I scanned it...

I really need to get a thinner pencil, I would use a mechanical, but I keep losing them and now I can't get another.

When next you see him I hope him to be much improved, and less of the anime style that you seem to hate so much. Despite my nagging, I really am trying to develop my own personal style, and the truth is, I knew I would get an honest critique from you. Sorry for being so annoying.

I just don't much like critiquing other people's works, because I tend to hit soft spots and make people feel bad. And yes, you're right; I really dis-like anime.

I kinda figured this might happen... But why is it ME that's the progenitor of the thread? I thought my new avatar was an appropriate post for the getting to know you thread.

EDIT: And I liked my old name, thank you...
