#875 – Craquelure

I used to get brain freeze a lot from gulping down slurpees on a hot day. It freaked me out at first because I didn’t know what was happening. I thought there was something drilling into the back of my head. Somehow the pain was never enough of a deterrent and I would get another one a few minutes later.

    Curse you thermal expansion!

  2. GURREN LAGAAAAANN says:

    Ouch?

  3. SilentDragon says:

    Ouch, rapid temperature changes are not biff’s friend!
    Though I’m not entirely certain why his skull shattered the way it did, I think the brain alone would have been all it affected. Either way, it’s been a long time since I gave myself a brain freeze, though I think I’m mostly lacking ice cream in my diet. *note to self, get Ice cream!*

    Ahh, I love the brain freeze. It’s always hot here, I always tend to drink my slurpees far too fast and so, brain freeze! I guess I associate it with delicious slurpee (or Icee, Slushie, Slush Puppy, Frostee, or possibly Froster)? Now when I keep going with the brain freeze and I get the chest freezey, that’s kind of scary and I usually slow down.

    Is that a famous ‘No-Spill’ coffee cup? I always wanted some of those, to give away as presents that is.

  6. MaskedMan says:

    Dude! Materials failure mega-battle! This Monday, Brittle Fracture meets Thermal Expansion for a no-holds-barred smackdown in the Biff’s Skull Arena!

    @MaskedMan – 🙂

    Tea drinkers beware! There are risks…

  9. Kitsune Dzelda says:

    That looks SOOOOOO Wrong, that its Funny.

  10. Solace says:

    Biff’s head is made of coffee carafe glass?

  11. sco3tt says:

    The only remedy for brain freeze is more brain freeze. Hand me my slurpee, I’m going in!

  12. MoosePhysh says:

    How does Biff’s mug stand up when he sets it down on the table? Or is it like one of those punchy clown things that spring back up?

  13. Marr965 says:

    Brain freeze + hot = ouchy teeth…

  14. ‘s not a cup, it’s his ‘drinking hand’.

    Mostly I like brain freeze from frozen Margaritas – much less painful by the third one…

  15. MaskedMan says:

    @Chris;
    This one just tickled me no end – It brought back all my reactor operator days, and the trouble we went to to prevent materials failure. Under the exactly the wrong circumstances, you could make a reactor vessel look just like the back of Biff’s head, here… And yeah, we cracked jokes about it endlessly. Now tomorrow, could we maybe have Work Hardening vs. Cyclic Loading (Fatigue)..?
    😉

  16. Chris says:

    @MaskedMan – Sorry, each reader only gets one personalized joke per thousand comics. I’ll try and get to Work Hardening vs. Cyclic Loading somewhere in the 1600’s.

  17. August says:

    I never got brain freezes- the pain would always be around my throat and heart area. Maybe I’ve a wire crossed somewhere?

  18. weerd2normal says:

    i could chug those slurpees, and not get a brain freez, but then 30 seconds later i would get an excruciatingly painful brainfreeze, and one time it was so bad i threw up, now i sip and enjoy.

  19. sco3tt says:

    “…somewhere in the 1600’s.”

    Dude, it’s WAY past then, lol.

  20. MaskedMan says:

    @Chris;
    Right. I’ll just hop into my time travel machine, than… 😉

  21. -2! says:

    @ Chris

    My question is how you managed to make my first personalized joke before I found the comic?

  22. Three of Nineteen says:

    Is it me or does Biff’s head appear to be hollow? That would explain a LOT about Biff’s exploits – no brain.

  23. The Dustin says:

    I never suffered from “brainfreeze” however, I always had issues with a sharp pain in my back which I can only assume is from the cold substance in my esophagus being close to my spine. I don’t get “brainfreeze” I get a “SpineFreeze”
