#439 – Nectar

Tea with honey is very comforting when I am sick. It’s kind of my reward for having a sore throat.

Well, at least he won’t have any forest fires in his house.

  2. PsychoDuck says:

Powerdrills have not been approved by the National Bear Guild as means for locating bee honey. Chris Hallbeck, you are now under arrest for illegal usage of a power tool. You have the right to remain hilarious.

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  3. Wiser Guy says:

Drawing them out should be a simple matter, though…Just put a bowl of porridge in the refrigerator, another in the microwave, and one on the kitchen table with a spoon for the right-handed. Then the spring loaded green tiles will handle the rest.

  4. FriskyF says:

Okies…I heard this from a local girl…First you Dress Biff up in a girls costume, preferably one that goes with his….eyebrows? and then set him loose in the house…Given enough times the bears will come outand eat him or beat him mercelessly….Wait..What? You wanted to get RID of them?

  5. Runyan says:

Tea in honey for a sore throat is nothing compared to hot lemon and honey. Boil water, add lemon juice, add honey, and you’re set for life!

  6. Simon says:

It’s psychologically unwise to reward yourself for having a sore throat, Chris.

  7. UrbanWildCat says:

    Tool/Home-Handyman week?

  8. Andrew says:

I’d say to get rid of bears, that you should place a trail of fish leading to a “cunningly” disgused trap that does not work anything like it should.

  9. Big Willie Styles says:

Ah, Biff is like Stephen Colbert; he hates bears. Interesting…

  10. Bullet Fiend says:

In my opinion, he should get out of there. FAST.

  11. dragonbrad says:

isn,t it the other way around

  12. Fred says:

    8) my mom used to give me tea with honey too when I had a sore throat!
Now at 18 I am obviosly too big so I have to make it myself XD
    It’s not the same… I miss it…

  13. Chivalrybean says:

Ok, I was really skeptical when I heard this, but I tried it and it worked. My wife and I both had sore throats one morning, so she used the Tome of Endlerss Knowlege (aka The Internet) ot find a cure. She found two that people said were very effective. Hot coco with 1/4 tsp of Chyanne (sp? kai-anne) pepper, or Jack Daniels. We were gonig to go to church in a bit, so the pepper seemed the better choice. So, we got the coco, added the pepper, and drank it. It has a nice bite to it (It could by a movie, Barqs vs Chyanne Pepper coco!), but lo and behold, the sore throat went away! If you give it a try, let me know if it worked for you too!

  14. Celticbear says:

There is actually lots of cases where bees will build their hives inside walls. On an episode of Dirty Jobs, they had to take a hive out of a church! Maybe… it’s a plot by the bears to drive Biff out so they can buy his house at a bargain price!! Those sneaky bears…. I have also heard the cayenne pepper trick, but have been too chicken to try it…

  15. speearr says:

This reminds me of South Park and the Hippie Infestation. Let’s hope the bears only eat honey…

  16. Nick Steele says:

    Dammit, Runyan!
I was going to suggest that!

  17. RFPT says:

    umm, obvious flaw? honey oozes!

  18. Gobbledegook says:

RFPT: You’re right; There must be a BUTTLOAD of honey behind that wall to make it spurt like that. I wonder how long he’s had the bear infestation and didn’t realize it…

  19. Trip Hazard says:

naw, it’s that the honey’s been pre-heated by the bears . . . to about 150 degrees! Don’t get any of it on you, Biff!

    Now, as to WHY they’ve pre-heated it . . . .

  20. Josher says:

It’s also proof he doesn’t have a Pooh infestation

  21. MaskedMan says:

You’re right, Josher – No Pooh infestation at all. Now all he has to do is beware the Tigger infestation…

Hot tea with lemon and honey is only partially effective. It needs a shot of brandy to bring it to full potency – My favorite treatment for bad colds. EVen if it doesn’t cure what ails you, you’ll still be feeling better… Or at least less pain. πŸ˜‰

  22. Graceofbass says:

Lol. Winnie the Pooh. I almost posted a “Pooh” joke, but politeness won this time.

  23. YeahYeah says:

This comic is ridiculous. I like it.

And I will have to try that Cayenne pepper remedy next time I have a sore throat. I usually just mope about and drink lots of OJ for a few days.

  24. Seraphine says:

ok, now we have evidence biff is a perv.
whats he hoping to see on the other side
of that wall? the locker room shower?

  25. MOD says:

    @ seraphine

maybe he was going to insert a screw, to hang a picture from….

ok, now we have evidence seraphine is a perv. lol

  26. Krasno says:

Yo DO know that honey is bee puke, right?
    I don’t mind, I love it anyway…

  27. Magical Nurse Ban says:

Bears like honey-head kids. Go give Gentle Ben a hug.

  28. Silicon Giraffe says:

Honey could be a pretty good insulator… it’s thick and viscous, and is edible in case of a famine/zombie infestation…

But yeah, I’ve always hated sore throats, but always loved the tea and honey. A nice green tea or an English Breakfast for the mornings. I think I’ll go make some right now actually!

  29. Lisa says:

rum in my tea with honey works even better

  30. Reynard says:

Runyan Says: “Tea in honey for a sore throat is nothing compared to hot lemon and honey. Boil water, add lemon juice, add honey, and you’re set for life!”

Put it in a tall glass, add ice; and you have lemonade!

  31. Reg says:

Iw onder how many holes he drilled into his walls before he found the nectar. Maybe he was using that giant screw to block up the nectar!
Or maybe Biff could bottle this stuff up and call it, “The Syurp of Biff: Nectar straight from the wall with no added perservatives”.

  32. Runyan says:

Reynard: The sugar in lemonade can never hope to compare to the crazy tangy contrasting flavors you get with hot lemon and honey. In lemonade, the lemon and the sugar works together to create a delicious drink for summer days. In hot lemon and honey, the lemon and honey have an epic battle for control of the taste buds. As this battle rages, you drink the concoction and they battle all the way down your throat, where they cause collateral damage to the antagonist of the soar throat, thus ending your suffering.

This drink is probably one of the few examples in there world were war is the best possible answer.

  33. bizzybody says:

There’s a show called “If walls could talk” about all the weird things people find in odd places in houses they’ve restored. One guy noticed this thick, sticky liquid oozing out of a built in cabinet in the parlor. It was honey running down inside the wall from a giant hive in the attic. It was a three story house.

  34. bizzybody says:

P.S. I still wanna see what Biff can do with a carbide cannon.

  35. Bears? Run, boy!

Bears can weigh up to a ton (2000 lbs).
It takes 100 beestings to kill you, providing you’re not allergic to bees.

Either way, you’re condemned in any way.

  36. Trevor says:

Tea and honey? How does that work? You mean you put honey…in the tea?

  37. Seraphine says:

Lol, Mod, nobody hangs a picture
    with a drill… wait a minute! You’re
right, this is Biff we are ralking about.

  38. nikie says:

tea and honey is a good way to start the day, get yourself going in the afternoon, relax after work/school, and then to drink right before going to sleep. tea is the amazing fixer of life, it is a fact. the other day i came home late from work, vexing and cursing the world around me… i made myself a cup of tea because i was cold and bitter and one sip i was instantly mollified and in love with the world.

tea is wonderful. oh, and it helps prevent brain tumors πŸ˜‰

  39. tbowl says:

I’ve had bee infestations in my walls before. They’re surprisingly loud for just little guys… Kept me up for days before I figured out what that infernal noise was… their… little feet?! Argh!

  40. Jim says:

I found out about the bee (err, bear) infestation in my house when I came into the kitchen one day and found my stove covered in honey, oozing from the smoke vent above.

  41. KZero says:

We had bees in our roof. I think my dad just calked the holes they got in through and let them die. What a horrible way to go.

But yeah, tea with honey isn’t just tasty. It’s good for your throat too. I’m sure you knew that though. A bit of lemon in it helps too. I guess that’s why they have honey lemon cough drops. Spicey foods are great for a plugged nose if anyone is ever looking for a way to take care of that.

  42. Krulle says:

    Looks more like orange juice…..

  43. Adam says:

My boyfriend loves honey. I can’t stand it πŸ™

  44. Zach Light says:

Just more the reason of my distaste for hunny and bees.

  45. BrainpanSonata says:

I love honey in my tea… especially Earl Gray.
