#433 – Blade

When I was a kid and a box of chocolates showed up it was very exciting. A mystery of deliciousness waiting to be discovered. It never worked out in my favor. They were always horrible. I would take a small exploratory bite and then spit it out. My mom would then get to eat the rest. They definitely weren’t designed for little kid’s tastes.

nice. that seems like something that would show up at my house and be objected to on the grounds that you’re not supposed to know what’s in those things.

  2. Amanda says:

They were never very aesthetically pleasing once I squished them all to find the good ones.
Anyway, I’d take a candy bar or ice cream as a romantic gesture over a box of chocolates any day.

  3. Alex G says:

I don’t even bother with boxed chocolates unless there is a legend with it. And even then I only eat the plain, peanut butter, and coconut ones. The rest are never worth the calories to eat.

I’m much happier spending the money it costs for those bad chocolates for something like Reese’s or some nice dark chocolate.

Life is like a box of chocolates… You meet a guy with big eyebrows and get your head chopped off… It’s like my momma always used to say…

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  5. Andrew says:

Too expensive to be worth it. If I get them as a gift, however…

  6. Tuldas says:

I’d much rather shell out more and get good high quality chocolate with a filling that is mentioned on the packaging.

  7. Chuck says:

Yay for the little filling guide that comes with See’s Candies.

  8. SEA says:

I want one of those =D
I was never a fan of mysterious flavoured chocolate XP

  9. MaskedMan says:

    Crunchy Frog? Spring Surprise?

Can I get a lark’s vomit garnish, please?

  10. speearr says:

There should be a site somewhere selling all those wacky stuff Biff gets his hands on… my local store doesn’t carry any of those things.

  11. Joseph says:

I second speearr’s idea. I would pay for a good many of Biff’s inventions.

  12. RFPT says:

yeah, despite the fact that modern technology hasn’t caught up with Biff. he does have dirt magnet shoes…

  13. dragonbrad says:

I love boxed chocolate, but i hate when i bite in the hard and chewy one that taste like baked beans

  14. Nikanaiko says:

    I agree with you whole-heartedly, Alex G.

Heh, weird. We both like dark chocolate and have the same name. Maybe people named Alex are destined to like dark chocolate…?

  15. Glenn says:

I once got a coupon book for a gift chocolates store, which was in walking distance from where I lived. I went there about once a month and made custom boxes made entirely of non-gross flavors. It’s a good thing it was a good walk to the place or I would’ve “expanded” a bit, and my custom arrangements were big hits as gifts.

  16. Plankster says:

I actually don’t like the taste of chocolate…any chocolate except white, that is.

  17. kenshin620 says:

I love white chocolate, I have no idea what the difference is taste wise, but I love it.

though about bad experiences, every once in awhile, my family visists my grandmother. Now she’s somewhat nice and always gives us chocolate bars and candy. problem is you don’t know how they were sitting around for!! I once bit into a choclate and then 10 seconds after chewing it, I saw a maggot crawl out of where I bit. You can imagine how long i was brushing my mouth for.

  18. Kitty says:

I always toss out the legends. Because if you get a kind you don’t like, you just have to suck it up and eat another one. Kind of like significant others. . .

  19. Bullet Fiend says:

Biff must really hate finding those surprise coconut chocolates…

  20. Seraphine says:

    Really professional chocolate eaters
already know what’s in a chocolate.
    Experience teaches you tyhat…

  21. It’s the surprise fruit ones I hate. Cherries, strawberry cream, orange cream… Blegh…

  22. Lucretiel says:

Kinda scary that he has a mini guilotine- He could get himself in trouble that way

  23. Eternal Darkness says:

My sister once gave me one of those things out of a box my grandmother bought. I put it in my mouth and then very nearly spit it back out all over her… Tasted like cold coffee, yuck.

  24. Biff, what have we told about miniature death traps?

In any case, I love chocolates, especially if they’re filled peanuts, caramel, peanut butter, nougat, or any combination.

Sadly, when you’re single, you feel like you’re the only schmuck who buys a box of candy when it’s Valentine’s Day. It’s been that way for my for about two times (2006 and 2007). In all likelyhood this year won’t be any different.

Then again, I guess it been rough realizing I could spend more time working than playing since I have few friends.

Then again, reading Biff is a joy…

  25. Smiley says:

    still no cookies D:

  26. trevor says:

Life is like a box of choclates, it’d be great if it weren’t for all the nuts.

  27. Ben says:

Aren’t the other 3 comics palletes of this one?

  28. PsychoDuck says:

It’s as if Chris knew this was my birthweek, and set out to give me awesome sweet-related Biff comics as gifts 😀

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  29. Bunnyman says:

I’ve always been a crazy huge fan of chocolate. My dad and I used to sit down and eat two boxes of chocolates a week. It worked out pretty well ’cause we always got the variety boxes and if I didn’t get one I liked, he liked it and vice versa. The only bad thing about that system was that it only came with one peanut, one caramel, one cashew, and one cherry. The rest were various creamy mixes like peanut butter or some such, and he usually got those four.

I was around six or seven then, but I was a kid of the 90’s. Who knows what changed?

    … I want a box of See’s now…

  30. bizzybody says:

I like peanut clusters, especially with caramel. However, I don’t care for peanut M&Ms or nuts in any other form of chocolate. (Especially not in chocolate brownies!)

I like the orange cream candies, pineapple too. The cherry and strawberry creams in those sampler boxes are gross, so are the coconut ones. OTOH, Mounds (Almond Joy minus the almonds) are good.

Caramel is almost always good. Very hard to make a bad caramel!

Coffee/Mocha in chocolate is NASTY! Same for coffee in general. Why can’t it taste as good as it smells?!

Who all here has eaten an Idaho Spud Bar? It’s a lump of squishy, chocolate flavored nougat, coated in chocolate with a light coating of finely shredded coconut. Made in Idaho by the Idaho Candy Co. idahospud.com

  31. Lisa says:

    Mmmmm i love turtles

  32. Kassil the Erratic says:

@Kitty & Radical Edward: You two make it sound as if being single is some kind of horrific, dire fate, the sort of thing that would’ve been made into a Greek tragedy.

I beg to differ. I’m perfectly happy being single. Means that all my free time is open to devote to things of personal interest rather than compromising on any of it, all my spare cash is open to fund said things of personal interest rather than going to buy idiotic little gifts because they’re expected, and all my energy is able to be devoted to whatever catches my interest at the moment as opposed to being siphoned off into someone else’s hobbies and demands.

Then again, I’m not a social animal in the first place, so I suppose that people who *are* might want to moon over what a sorry life this is. Me, I’ll be having fun off that way.

  33. Spoot Knight says:

    Truffles for the win.

  34. It should be obvious that I studied Greek art because it’s part of my heritage, but the way my life has played out, I’m not surprised I’m repeating the steps that were taken in one’s mind.

I recently received a box of truffles. They were awful!

  35. ///.o Emo Ferret says:

    … Kaula chocolate… Yum… Now you made me want some. ///.< Meh…

  36. Dartigen says:

Heh, I always have loved chocolate. I love Reese’s Cups, but they’re a pain to get here in Aus – I know of one place in my city that sells them.

But I do remember vividly when my brother let me have a cherry liquer chocolate…it took three glasses of milk before my throat stopped burning. Still, the alcohol fumes cured my blocked nose, so there was some good out of it. But I didn’t taste any cherry.

My personal faves are pineapple creams or just plain milk chocolate (Lindt is good, though Cadbury is better for hot chocolate). I find caramel to be too sweet, same with strawberry. In fact, I hate most strawberry-flavored stuff – it’s always sickly-sweet, unlike raspberry.

  37. Zach Light says:

I have a sudden urge to watch Forest Gump…..

    1. Jenny Creed says:

Life is like a box of chocolates: It can be a time consuming process.

  39. lamycorie says:

my mom got one of these chocolate boxes with “luxury” chocolate… well the thing is.. sweeds can’t make chocolate.. they make em with cheese and curry… strange and not at all tasty

  40. Pyro says:

my brother and I would always fight over who got the little chart that said which chocolate was which, lke it was a treasure map or something.

  41. Tech says:

I never met a chocolate I didn’t like. I always thought it weird that the people on TV hated coconut…
