#363 – Sunk

The first time I ever went bowling was in cub scouts. I had a lot of fun and somehow managed to get the high score with something like 82 points. I think the next summer was when I joined a league. My friend’s dad was in a league on Saturday mornings and so he signed us up for a kids league at the same time. I liked it but I was kind of annoyed that I had to miss a summer of Saturday morning cartoons. At the end of the season there was a banquet with an awards ceremony. I got 1 trophy and 2 plaques out of it. It was really cool at the time but in hindsight I think they were probably just glorified “participation” awards.

But how else is he to appease the bowling gods on the other side of the quicksand fields?

    OMG BIFFSHIRTS

  3. PsychoDuck says:

You got 82 on your first try? Dang, I’m still trying for a 100 in my eighth week of my league 🙁

Also, that pool of quicksand is awful small. It’s not as if Biff couldn’t walk around it -_-

But, then again, he’s Biff. I dare not question his immeasurable logic.

Would bowling trophies be any heavier than other trophies? Unless they were actually topped with real bowling balls of coarse.

I’ve only been bowling once but I can’t remember my exact score. I got pretty high though. Even without bumpers :p

I grew up in a bowling center, the first ohh 7 or 8 years of my life were in one. I got real good at it, and I still am pretty good. After a couple warm up games I can easily score in the 200s. I need to go bowling again.

i’ve always wanted one of those backpacks as small as a handbag, but somehow holds an infinite number of guns and bullets. not to mention trophies.

I never liked bowling. can’t spin it right. one time when I was nine, I managed to knock down the guard wall.

  7. Reapaninja says:

I can barely bowl and without bumpers I get scores of between 40 and 50… and with bumpers I still manage to miss most of them.

Wii bowling is far more fun, for me at least. you don’t have to lug around a heavy ball to make sure no one steals your ‘preciousssss’ and if you get bored, you just end the game and play something else. *hugs his Wii as it is the greatest thing to ever enter his life, moreso in a month when Guitar Hero comes out*

  8. Gobbledegook says:

The best score I ever got was around 230 when I was 21… unfortunately I don’t remember much of it since it was $3 beer pitcher night. Me and my friends were drinking from our own pitchers as if they were giant mugs.
Although I’ve tried, I’ve never duplicated either feat since (wifey no likey me drinky).
    good times.

I think I also prefer wii bowling but i’ve only played ”real” bowling 1 or 2 times so theres no way to be sure

  10. MaskedMan says:

I’m a brutal bowler… I zing the heaviest ball I can loft straight down the lane and blast the pins out of my way. No subtlty, no finesse, no hook – just brute power and hope for the best. I usually roll in the 140s, but one night rolled a 280… my team were doing the Wayne’s World ‘we’re not worthy’ dance that night… Especially after I picked up two 7-10 splits. Heh!

I always get confused about bowling techniques. When I see people bowl, its always under hand, yet when I try that I always get gutter balls. Then I found out I’m better with a more, side ways hand release.

Anyway Wii sports bowling is one of my favorite wii games.

  12. Seraphine says:

    Quick, save the bowling trophies!

  13. Opalin says:

    @ RFPT

You think that’s bad, you should see me bowl. I’ve gone over the bumpers, two lanes and still managed to get a gutter ball… >

  14. Yugosaki says:

I’ve gotten those ‘participation’ awards when I was a kid. fun at first, but once I hit like 5th grade I knew they didn’t really ‘man’ anything. Way more satisfying when I won a REAL gold medal at my first taekwondo tournament years later.

  15. Spooner says:

first time i was bowling i got scores about 150.. later that day i got about 200
when i’m bowlinh i almost hit about 180 points, but one day ( I had too less sleep or something like that ) i just couldn’t hit the pins X__x.
whatever, a perfect score would be great :3

  16. trevor says:

Don’t heavier peple sink slower though? Actually, i guess that wouldn’t matter.

  17. PsychoDuck says:

    @ Trevor:

Yes, because heavy people have a lower density than smaller folks.

But, bowling trophies are incredibly dense, so the rule doesn’t apply here.

    The Biffshirt looks EVIL. O-O

What is Biff doing with bowling trophies? Ishe going to some distant relative’s to show off his bowling finesse?

I wouldn’t put it past ‘ol Biffy, what?

That’s an idea…What if Biff was British?

Hmm…he looks more like a Netherlander to me.

    Possibly Russian…a Russian Robot from the Bolshevik Revolution II in the year 25xx!!! ^_^;

Hey Chris, why haven’t you done a video-game related Biff comic? Maybe Biff would learn the hard way as to what REALLY happens when you run out of hearts?

  19. Nicki says:

i was in a bowling league myself as a kid. I was in it with my siblings and we got third place in a tournament. Ii was really proud of that trophy… is biff really that attached to those?? hehe

  20. huh. and here I thought I wasn’t more right when they discussed the dangers of pointless baggage. poor biff.

  21. Ben says:

Oh wow, dude is like me.
I worked in construction and for a period, I had no licence (forgot to renew it).
It was fun walking to buses and trains everday with a 50Kg bag of tools.
Would’ve loved to see some one try and mug me.

Not a big fan of bowling itself, but I enjoy the physics of it.
Like how the ball slides more than spins at first and how weighting the ball affects the way it rolls. Guess I am a nerd, meh.

  22. Kit-Kun says:

I love the look Biff has. It’s all like ‘Crap…’

  23. Radical Edward says:

I guess Biff struggled…You’re not supposed to!

  24. Michael-Forest says:

I’m 98% sure you’ve already shared the story about missing Saturday morning cartoons because of your bowling league (though this has more detail).
