#334 – Mower

My wife ordered a CD from Amazon.com. It was one of her favorite artists and her new album wasn’t out in the US yet so she ordered it as an import. When the package arrived it contained 3 CDs, Silverchair: Neon Ballroom, a CD of world music and a CD of classical music. She was pretty bummed. They had us just keep the wrong CDs and about a month later the real CD showed up.

My dad just ordered some books from amazon.com and when they arrived, they were battered and the box they were in was falling apart.

I ordered a Sakura notebook. They sent me Sasuke. I hate Sasuke.

college text books are a lot cheaper online. you just have to hope you get the right edition in decent shape.
likin’ the mower, though. it looks like it has eyes.

Once I ordered something from Barnes and Noble. I can’t remember what it was, but I’m inclined to think it was either Mythology by Edith Hamilton or one of the Bounty Hunter War trilogy books about Boba Fett. What I got was a book about a werewolf…a romance book about someone falling in love with someone undergoing a transformation or something like that. I never read it, even though it seems like it would be very entertaining if I could get through it, and I tried to contact B&N and the lady who ordered the book to no avail. I did get the right book eventually, but I can’t help but think that somewhere, some lonely woman got a book about Boba Fett and laaaaauuuuuugggh.

Oh yea, I also had someone mow my lawn with a homemade lawnmower that looked a lot like that. I think it was made out of one of those little pedal john deere tractors for little kids to ride. So this 16+ teenager gets on this thing and hardly fits, all excited to show off his lawnmower, and he’s riding along and hits a rock. The rock hit my mom’s car window and it shatters into little safetyglass squares, but the kid doesn’t notice. He’s still mowing happily along for about ten seconds before he happens to glance over…one of the only times I’ve actually seen someone’s jaw look like it was going to fall off. Hilarious.

Ugh. Once I bought a used CD from Hastings. when I got home, I opened the case, and inside…. was a totally different CD. I told Mom, and she went to try again, and they didn’t have anymore of the CD I wanted. I don’t know what she did with that other CD….

I just can’t help but feel sorry for the person that thought they were getting rid of a country music CD and ended up selling their Rolling Stones album.

You should listen to Silverchair, they’re one of the pinnacles of Australian indie rock.
Their older stuff is better though 😛

  9. SEA says:

well, that’s why you should be careful when ordering something online.

  10. Bob says:

All of my orders came thru all right, if they had screwed up my order, i would have been very upset, as the most recent things ive ordered was a G5 laser mouse, World in Conflict collecters eddition, and a running chainsaw 🙂

I’ve gotten some weird stuff from Ebay… I once ordered a dvd called dragon spear, or something else very similar.
What they sent me was an actual 6-foot long metal-shafted spear with a dragon motif all along the shaft and the blade. Not a bad for only $15. I figured I got the better end of the deal so I kept my mouth shut and got the dvd someplace else.
    🙂

Biff’s mower looks angry. It just shows,
    things ordered online don’t always
know who their next owners will be.

Lower back pain, Here I come!

Really, that could be a problem later.

  14. Kuroiten says:

    I didn’t know the Shriners sold lawnmowers…

  15. aprilhl says:

luckily, neon ballroom is a fantastic cd!

    Hey Chris,
Congrats on the auction status. Sorry I haven’t been posting since May. My parents put the computer on lockdown the whole summer(Yes, I’m still in high school). I went to your very first comics and it’s amazing how time perfects even the tiniest details. From Biff’s eyebrows to his wardrobe, the change is astounding. Keep on drawing and bringing in the humor.

When I was around 7, the Nintendo 64 came out, and I played Bomberman 64 at my friends house. I ordered it online, and it hadn’t come for 5 months, so I gave up hope of getting it. Just last year, it finally arrived in the mail finally.

  18. Nikanaiko says:

xD MDX1, that has to be one of the most amusing stories that I’ve ever heard. It reminds me of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

As for my own online ordering problems… The biggest problem I’ve ever had was when I tried to order the book Cold Fire by Tamora Pierce from Barnes and Noble… And they sent Cold Fire by Dean Koontz instead. The ironic thing was that I ordered the book on my birthday and when I opened the book, what was the first thing I saw? “August 12” My birthday. xD

  19. JezMM says:

I once ordered an old Dreamcast game, and got… absoloutely nothing.

It sucks that rare items and import ones are often purchased from people who you can’t have full confidence in, but I guess you can’t have one without the other.

  20. Crystal says:

Wow,I just finished all the biff comics in under and hour…. 🙁
They’re so good, wish there were more

Also,Ive had similar things happen before, school fundraisers seem to have this thing for packageing alll your orders in one box and labeling it nice yatta yatta, and when you open it up,theres stuff in there you never sent the orders out for,and you’re missing stuff you DID order.

my dad ordered a book from amazon and had it delivered to his Post Office Box. The shipping company (DHL, i believe) sent a letter to the PO Box telling him they don’t deliver to PO Boxes and to write back to them with a street address. Since it was a PO Box, and hence something you don’t check all the time, it was a little while before he got the letter (about 2 weeks) – so he rang them when he finally got it, and they told him that they’d *destroyed* his book because he didn’t pick it up within 11 days. He had to buy another copy and have it delivered to my house. Weak.

  22. Ela says:

    ZOMG I WANT THAT.

  23. Hanii Puppy says:

worst thing that happened to me was buying a white 3 button mouse when the scroll click didn’t work

  24. Brohaz says:

Of all the things I bought from Newegg, my USB keyboard was the only thing that didn’t completely work. A lot of the buttons, the number buttons above the letters, Print Screen, Page Down, F5, didn’t work… that is, until maybe a couple of months ago, when they started kicking on.

But other than that, I’ve gotten lucky so far ordering stuff online. There’s a lot of stuff that you can’t get in the stores that you’d have to get online.

  25. Radical Edward says:

I make Dollfie dolls for stories and decorating my room. Unfortunately, the first 2 doll bodies I ordered had the right hands on both of them falling off.

I would love to order from Amazon. Problem is, I only order when I can’t find it in stores.

  26. Tyler says:

Something like that didn’t directly happen to me, but my brother. He decided to get Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii… and guess what we got? A copy of the Meet the Robinsons game, inside a Metal Slug Anthology case. And he bought it right from the store. Lord knows how the people at GameStop got the two mixed up. And I can’t remember how we got that Meet the Robinsons game exchanged.

  27. nemo says:

i don’t really buy anything online. I mean my mom and the rest of my family does sometimes, but its usually nothing 4 me. eeny who… cute comic. that little mower is PIMP!!!!!! i want one. I can buy one and say its 4 my cousins birthday and then just “accidently” forget 2 send it and keep it for myself. *wink wink* lol

  28. Sarkreth says:

Hey, the CD your wife got wouldn’t happen to be Marty Friedman’s Live in Europe was it?
Anyways, I buy CDs on Amazon all the time, but that has never happened to me.
And that mower is so cool. I want one.

  29. Eleanor says:

Gobbledegook: Wow, I know what I want for my birthday now.

  30. Ben says:

Well atleast Neon Ballroom has one great track on it.
Emotion sickness, possibly one of the best songs ever written.

  31. Ryan says:

the new Silverchair: Young Modern is pretty sweet.

  32. Elizabeth says:

I have been very lucky with the internet, since I tend to order a lot of out-of-print books. However, my mom is always having trouble with Lego Shop At Home because the books come all beaten up and torn.

  33. solar says:

  35. Mags says:

I remember ordering a video game for a certain system and getting it for a different system. My parents had to buy me that other system and now we have more games!

  36. Kunnaki says:

I pre-ordered a video game online from Amazon. It arrived early, and I was looking forward to playing it. But once I put it in my PS3, it wouldn’t play. I later found out that it was because it was the European version of the game.
