#284 – Hand

I had a good time at the new Transformers movie. I thought it was going to be just a fun distraction but I left really impressed. I watched the original show when I was a kid and it was great seeing Optimus Prime again. I didn’t even know until fairly recently that they continued to make more shows and toys past the first generation that I played with. When I got older, my first car was an old 1979 camaro, not nearly as cool as the one in the film but that brought back some fun memories as well.

I’ve always wanted to have a robot hand, with the exception of the obvious concerns, with possibly crushing small puppies and cans of Dr. Pepper, I really can’t see any downsides.

    also, first post

  2. Chuck says:

How’s he gonna pick his nose with that thing?

  3. cyber95 says:

Pfft. I can change my shirt with one hand.

  4. Otacon says:

    With a hand like that.
    Who needs shirts?

  5. Seraphine says:

With a hand like that, who needs a Camero?
All Biff needs is a cape-
    and a girlfriend
who knows how to pluck eyebrows.

  6. ninjarat says:

he he. I loved that movie too. Oooh, first post. I love your comic. 🙂

  7. red rule says:

walking around all day with a steel clump on youre hand, thats gonna hurt in the morning, and even more the day after…

  8. Caitlin says:

Have you seen the Ctrl+Alt+Del (www.ctrlaltdel-online.com) miniature story arch in which one of the characters makes robo-hands to defeat his robot at video games? He suffers, too. Admittedly in cruder ways than not being able to remove his shirt, but still.

  9. RFPT says:

yeah, Ethan didn’t build it very well. he couldn’t open the pickle jar.

  10. Kuroiten says:

Now he can get everyone’s attention by slamming his fist on a table…and, well, shattering the table. If you want to make an omlette, you have to break some tables, am I right?

Yes. But he cannot pull it out of the shirt!

  12. He’ll have to cut his shirt off.

  13. Cool Joe Smith says:

ive been reading you Biff comics for a while now, and i love ’em you do such a good job Chris!

  14. Madness says:

Biff is mechanical. I knew it.

  15. Geckoman77 says:

    yah

  16. Bunnyman says:

I tried putting a robotic arm on myself once… It… Didn’t quite go so well. Very, very messy. Good comic, though.

  17. Garrett says:

As soon as I read the caption, I knew your commentary would be about the Transformers movie. I’ve heard plenty of good things about the movie, including one person sarcastically(presumably) saying that he even heard the crowd cheering every time Optimus Prime so little as BLINKED. That’s how excited the crowds were.

  18. Sye216 says:

It seems the Transformers movie went to Biff’s head. Oops.

The Transformers movie was good! I liked it.

  19. dragonbrad says:

he can just sleep in the washer so he can have a clean shirt on.

  20. Darkr0nin says:

Yes, but it could kick some SERIOUS ass! =D

Looks like Biff is wearing that power glove thing that came out for, I think it was the Atari.

  21. ninjakyrosaki says:

There’s a person whose legal name is Optimus Prime

  22. Zelly_Fangirl says:

this makes me bring up two questions:

where did he get the robo hand?

and for what purpose did he get it?

then again, why not just get a full robo body? o.0

oh wait, thats three questions… ~.~

That’s how it was when I saw it at Anime Expo, only it was every time ANYONE blinked. Severely impaired my ability to enjoy the movie. The friend I saw it with rewatched it and said it was really nice to actually be able to hear the dialogue.

  24. Mika says:

During the last ten hours I have viewed the entire archive. I slept for seven of those hours. Enjoyed the 3 hours of non stop Biff action though.

  25. Chris says:

Awesome Mika, see you on Monday!

  26. red rule says:

oooooooh biff finaly gets his own book yaaah!

  27. dragonbrad says:

woot, i just saw it yester day and optimus prime said one of my favorite lives ” Peace is the right of all sentient beings” that is awthome

  28. nobody says:

My favorite line was the one asked by Sam Witwicky’s mother:

    “Were you masturbating?”

The look on his face? Priceless.

    ——

That was the Nintendo Entertainment System, (NES for you Acronym types) made in 1989 by PAX in Japan and Mattel in the USA.

  30. sole says:

I rather have my left hand like that my right hand is for… petting the pickle.

  31. Michael says:

You know, I think the best way for Biff to deal with the shirt and hand issue, is one, He just has to rip his shirt off, I mean, Picture if he had a great bod, and is ripping off his shirt with that robot hand, That would be a great pose right there, but then to get a new shirt on, He just has to live inside a shirt factory, they sew two pieces of shirt onto him, and then when its time to change, he rips it off in his cool manner like he did before, its quite simple actually. Chris, I love your comics, and this is my first comment!

  32. Darkpheonix XIII says:

I have a transformer toy, but one of those older ones.

  33. Elkian says:

    ..or go to the bathroom.
    EEEW.

  34. steve-o says:

It’s interesting to think about what gizmos that thing has

  35. KZero says:

You’re lucky Sabrina can’t hear you say that about Transformers Chris :p thinking there was only just that first series. She’d go crazy or something. I linked to that comic for this post.

Personally I rather liked the Beast Wars series. Never really cared for the regular ones. I didn’t find them interesting. The movie WAS really good though I must say. It was exactly what I thought, a condensed version of the best parts of the show. A few hours of the best stuff is a lot better than a season of subpar stuff.

  36. gregg says:

Now I know why Biff’s stained glass window and refrigerator magnet cars looked like ’79 Camaros….

  37. Chris says:

@gregg – You cracked the secret code!

  38. the walrus says:

Alex- crushing small pupies is a downside?

  39. Dudeman says:

I’ll get you next time, Gadget.
