#1821 – Skipped

When I was a kid I had a friend that could never grasp the concept of skipping stones. No matter how many times I demonstrated my technique he stil failed to get a single skip. He insisted that angle and spin were irrelevant as long as he threw much harder than me.

  1. I don’t really understand this either, but that’s probably just because I haven’t ever seen anyone skipping stones in real life. For quite a long time, I thought that skipping stones was physically impossible or something.

As long as they are water turtles, you should be all right. They tend to be a little flatter than land ones, so as to be hydrodynamic. And they won’t drown.

    Land turtles? you mean tortoises?

    1. infrapinklizzard says:

from wikipedia: “All animals with a shell and backbone are classified as turtles, and the word turtle is used to describe all members.[36][37] In general use, the term tortoise usually refers to any land-dwelling turtle,[37] although in Great Britain, tortoise refers to any turtle other than a sea turtle,[35] and scientifically tortoises are the Testudinidae family, only one of the 14 extant turtle families.”

As far as skipping rocks goes, my personal best was 20+ — Twenty that I could count and then a trail of too-many-too-quick. It was on a small, perfectly calm lake. Perfect bliss for a young teen.
