My wife has heard a mysterious squeaking in the night. We can’t tell if it’s inside the house or what. I imagined someone in a similar situation that owns a nail gun freaking out after a month of sleepless nights and shooting up the walls to try and stop it.

The only time I’ve ever heard something from inside a wall was at school. It wasn’t squeaking sounds, though, more like some kind of scratching (or a little mouse that was running around with its sharp little mouse claws).
Mom says that there were mice inside the walls of a house where we lived a long time ago, but I don’t remember this, because we moved away from there when I was two years old.
That reminds me of the classic film ‘bucket of blood’. 🙂
That really takes the wind out of some of those haunted house movies. Guess it all depends on what makes the walls bleed.
Well, I’m happy to report this is ONE problem I’ve never encountered before living in a country whose last communist leader had a fetish for mass housing made from precast concrete sections and tore down a lot of old houses to make room for his concrete monsters. Sure, we eventually hauled him (and his wife) out and shot him for this (and many others, including a teensy bit of genocide), but not before the country was full of large concrete blocks that had a lot more in common with tetris than living. The place he got the idea? He took a trip to North Korea back in 1971 and he really liked what he was seeing.
This would be a horrible day. “Ah!!!! The walls are bleeding!!!! I’m in a Silent Hill game!!!!”
This is uncharacteristically macabre for Biff.
We had mice in the walls. One day they sounded like they were in the air conditioner, so in a bright moment, mum turned it on. Fast forward several days, and we were getting an electrician in to pull apart the air conditioner and get the dead mice out. Yeuch.
out of all the years you’ve done this, this is by far the best comic you’ve done yet. this ranks up there with the pun comics and the CD slingshot one. I’ve actually got that one saved on my computer.
oh the cat jiggsaw puzzle joke was awesome too.
I had a shrew get inside my wall once. I took off one of the outlet plates and set a cat to guard duty. The shrew was removed in short order.
