#1503 – Optics

I’m already to the point where I will look at a satellite map of my location and I will sometimes forget that it’s not a live image. “Oh yeah, it’s actually snowing outside right now.” A few times a year I do look for my car. I’ve found it in my driveway and at 2 different places of work. Cool and creepy at the same time.

the trick is to figure out when the satellite is passing over your house and to run out and position all of your towels and blankets on the lawn to spell out obscene phrases.

My truck has finally shown up in the satellite map photo of my house, which is a sign I need to replace it. The third dead alternator in eight years is another subtle hint.

Mine, too. I stopped parking in the same place and checked Google maps every day to see when the image gets updated. On an unrelated note, my f150 kept blowing alternators. I found out the hose going to the manifold for the cold weather starting had a pinhole leak. Only at a certain temperature would it squirt out onto the alternator.

  3. I *think* I found the town where I live when looking at satellite photos once, but I don’t remember finding the house I live in. I don’t look at satellite photos that often…

A few years ago, my Ma was asking me about the satellite and aerial photo sites. I went to the one I usually go to, and brought up the town where we live. She wanted to see where we worked. Not only did it show the building, we saw her car, right where she parked it nearly every day of work. I went to a completely different site, and there it was again! Mom was a creature of habit.

Yep. Cool/creepy. It’s also amazing how many people in my area have backyard pools.
