When I was a kid it was common knowledge that uncoiled your intestines they would stretch out for a full mile. This was corroborated by a kid whose brother knew a kid that saw a guy get hit by a bus. We didn’t have the internet on computers back then. The web of information was kid based. It would be years until it was upgraded to the current “series of tubes” version.
Today’s Maximumble orders it up.

When I was a kid the going rumor was that your large intestines would be about as tall as you. Your small intestines, however, could be wrapped around the Earth. Twice sometimes, depending on which kid told you.
I don’t know about you, Biff, but I think I’ll keep my intestines inside me and wait for rescue.
That would take guts.
