#1375 – Broth

I’m looking forward to it being soup weather again. I like the feeling of being warmed up from the inside when it’s a little chilly in the house. I think soup was the second thing I learned how to make for myself after cereal. My little brother couldn’t handle the boiling temperatures of a fresh bowl of ramen soup so he always got an ice cube or two tossed in at serving time.

Today’s Maximumble squints.

  1. This is a good rule at sci-fi conventions where the hotel has a hot-tub.

    A better rule: Don’t get in the hot-tub. It’ll be soup eventually.

    I’ve never understood people who refuse to eat soup when it’s warm outside, though they’ve been a real P.I.T.A. when I make more of a recipe than I can finish before it goes bad. I guess they’re mostly the same people who heat soup to like 190 F, though.

    The best thing about bathing in soup is you don’t need deodorant afterwards. And Tomato gives you such a nice imitation tan.

    It’s a Looney Tunes(tm) moment…

    @Howard;
    SF Con hottubs… ::: shudder :::
    I understand management holds ritual exorcisms over the tubs once the Con shuts down.

    Anyway, soup is good any time of year but I do tend to save the heavy/hearty soups for after the first frost.

      Masked, do you KNOW the amount of Exorcists that would take? I believe even the Pope would have to show up and work alongside those who do not work under the Christian Exorcism style! It would be a merge of every form of Exorcism known to man, and no one would leave..

      The demons those Cons unleash.. Nightmares unknown to man.. Horrors from the darkest depths that make Cthulu weep like a young child..

    Azkyroth, I had some soup the other day (summer weather’s been sticking around) and I just about melted. I would imagine that’s why. Warm outside tends to mean warm inside, unless you have the money to be running your AC all the time, which we sure don’t.

  6. Cari says:

    Chuck, both my boss and my husband get hot easily, which means after sitting in a 60degree office for 8hrs, I go home to a 60degree house. Soup has become a year-round necessity. Unfortunately, ice cream has not.

    …but if your too relaxed to get out, why BROTH-er?

    the solution to soup year-round: cold soup!
    gazpacho, strawberry soup, cucumber soup…
