#1018 – Ascend

I have a reoccurring dream where I am standing on the roof of a building. I’m wearing some sort of space-worthy battle armor and holding a large gun shaped object. I’m standing at one edge of the large flat roof looking across to the other side and the tall trees that reach above it. I raise the gun to aim just as a large aircraft carrier sized spacecraft appears. It’s skimming the surface of the trees as it rushes towards me. I shoot the grappling gun at the belly of the ship and its magnetic end takes hold. I immediately start running as fast as I can across the roof in the opposite direction that the ship is flying. I hit the control on the gun to retract the cable that is stretched between me and the ship and right as I reach the far edge of the roof it pulls me up. The momentum swings me in a long arc behind then up and over the ship landing me on top. I look down and see my boots standing on the surface of the roof again. I look up and see the ship appear over the trees as the dream starts over again and again and again.

Do you have oranges in Canada? Bring one to the free Toronto Comic Arts Festival this weekend and I’ll draw Biff’s face on it! It will look totally adorable!

What will happen if I bring an apple?

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  2. KMakato says:

    @PsychoDuck
Don’t bring a Granny Smith, then Biff will look sick!

  3. Space Butler says:

Wow, you’re dream sounds so much cooler than Biff’s current example of haphazard ingenuity (although a lot less funny).

  4. P says:

    Just Cause 2 much?

  5. TwiztedMessiah says:

I second Just Cause 2. This should be followed by surf-riding the plane as it crashes into a small village. Good times…

  6. MaskedMan says:

I wonder… Could this be a new trend in bungee jumping?

  7. soulofaqua says:

I do live close to an airport….

  8. Paku-san says:

i think bif herd yer story before chris and is now attempting to see if he can save money by not booking with priceline.

  9. Hoyrel says:

You know Chris, I have heard it said that when we dream, what we dream is what we see as our souls leave our body and journey on The upper planes.

Since they conform to our thoughts, to a point, it could be that your having some awesome adventures on the upper Astral Plane. Just avoid that lower astral plane, it’s, unpleasant…

  10. Mophtran says:

Thats certainly an interesting dream, Chris. The kind that really get to me are the ones you can’t wake up from. I’ve had a dream where I woke up into the same dream (appeared in my bed at home only to start a slightly different dream) about three times before I finally woke up.

    Or maybe I’m still dreaming… >_>

  11. Micah says:

You might be playing too much Halo, Chris.

    -The Micah has spoken!

  12. Second Time Poster says:

Sounds like getting stuck on an annoying level in Portal, actually 😛

  13. Cari says:

I’ve woken up into the same dream. I’ve also woken up, then fell back to sleep and the dream continued.

@Chris–They probably do have oranges in Canada, but they’re probably not grown locally.

  14. Alex says:

Funny how this brings a different image to each person… I immediately thought of Jay Sherman being rescued from an Iraqi prison in The Critic “I don’t understand it, this thing’s supposed to lift a tank”

  15. GuyD says:

Let’s see what happens if he scores a hit. Modern planes flies at heights up to 35000 ft, where the air is thin and very cold (down to -58° F) and reaches speeds up to 500 knots. Unexpensive, yes but it would be a one way trip for sure.

  16. Mister Disco says:

Sounds like your dream has a good physics engine.

  17. GuyD says:

I live near an airport. Yesterday a corpse was found with many broken bones right under one of the approach corridors. It’s suspected that the man tried to travel as a blind stowaway in the gear bay of a plane. The investigators are quite sure that the man died during the flight and the dead body falls out of the bay when the landing gear was lowered during the final approach.

Can I bring a star fruit?

  19. -2! says:

    @Cari

Yes we do have oranges in Canada. I think Chris was as do we every other fruit that we ship in. Especially this time of year after the winter of there being snow on the ground.

    The -2! has spoken

  20. GuyD says:

This week at thursday the christians celebrate the Ascension Day. Is there a coherence to this cartoon?

  21. jwalters93 says:

    hehe, this one is great.

    also, @ Micah and -2!
i’m pretty sure Psycho Duck already claimed the ending “The *insert name here* has spoken”

    be original. >_<

  22. Capshot says:

I live near an airport. Better try this out soon…
