#1697 – Drilled

When I go to the dentist I’m always surprised no matter what the outcome is. If I made it 6 months with no cavities I’m amazed and relieved. (I ate so much candy!) If I actually have a new cavity I’m also amazed. (I did such a good job brushing!)

The dentist usually yells at me to save time.

I’m just happy I still have most of my teeth. I thought I might have inherited the bad teeth my Pop was cursed with. But I only had to lose three to that trait. But, I did end up having to get three impacted Wisdoms pulled, too, but that came from Ma’s side of the family.

I inherited the bad teeth my grandpop was cursed with. I was like, “What am I gonna do with these?” I was so disappointed. My brother inherited his glass eye, and my sister got his hook (he had quite a few enemies) so admittedly I was a little jealous at the time. But a gift is a gift, as my old grandpop used to always say. So I put the teeth in a box somewhere in the garage. I figure I’ll find them and scare my kids with them some day.

“Look, grandpop’s teeth! Beware, supposedly they are cursed…”

      “Gross, dad!”

Just don’t keep them in your back pocket.

I’ve been pretty good with mine. In nearly 18 years and only a few dentist visits, I had just one cavity that was under a failing old filling. Knock on wood.

  5. I also get surprised every time I go to the dentist, even though the outcome has always been the same so far. I have never had a single cavity (I’m not kidding!), but for some reason I still fear that there will be something that needs to be fixed the next time.
