#1115 – Expel

I think I’m developing new allergies to things outside and I’m not too happy about it. A simple thing like taking the dog for a 2 minute walk to pee before she eats breakfast can turn into 30 minutes of collapsing on the couch in agony. Maybe I don’t have any new allergies and my neighbors secretly have hundreds of cats When the wind blows in the wrong direction my head swells up.

    …or something like that

Looks like Biff will need to switch to one of his auxiliary heads.

  5. Hot peppers. Eat the hottest food you can stand; capsicum is a wonder drug. Whenever allergies try to crush my head from the inside out, I just gnaw on a chiltepin or eat a bowl of something larded up with habanero sauce. You’ll suffer, sure, but it’s a good suffering. Capsicum is a system-wide anti-inflammatory drug, raises the pain tolerance of the entire body (the head/face in particular) and clears the sinuses while causing the mucus membranes to produce thin clear mucus. This flushes out both allergens and pathogens, and when combined with deliciously enormous doses of caffeine (also an anti-inflammatory wonder drug) is guaranteed to destroy allergies and congestion.

    Been there, done that.
One life later, and here I am!
😮 You’re allergic to cats? Aw… I have four of ’em.

@Gwidlet – I’m gonna have to cancel lunch on Thursday then. 🙁

  8. Gwidlet says:

That’s fine, I’ll eat all of the pretense-sandwiches myself 🙂

A co-worker and I were discussing sneezes a while after after I had a particularly loud one that got my whole department’s attention, and she had mentioned that someone she knew tried holding in a sneeze and actually ended up pulling several muscles in their neck (that person even had to wear a neck brace for a while afterwards).

To Biff: Aspirin for that headache? *L* Ouch.

If he tried to swallow a sneeze any more violent, be glad his ribcage instead didn’t burst out.

Before reading the caption I thought Biff had either sprouted hair or been hit in the head by a bird or chipmunk that went through the window.

Had a friend who was allergic to cats, and he kept a cat. Took lots of Benedril (sp?). Liked to teach it to attack welders gloves. As for the allergies, check the local weather and see if they do pollen/allergens warnings. You might be able to narrow it down to what of 7 billion possible causes might be hitting you depending on what they report on whats floating around out there.

At one point there was a fairly strong correlation that suggested that I was allergic to dictionaries.

I know your pain, man. This past spring something in the air suddenly decided to wreak havoc on my sinuses. Could’ve been pollen, but I was having sneezing fits long after all the green turned to yellow (I live in California, the “Golden” state, which I’ll tell you now, is called that NOT just because of the Gold Rush.) Trying to do yard work was near impossible; if I got just a little bit of crud in my nose I’d be sneezing for 5 minutes straight. Of course, now the problem has greatly subsided, so maybe it was the pollen in the air; I’ll have to wait until next Spring to double-check this theory.

Out here in Hoosierland we’re in the middle of a moderate drought (it hasn’t rained appreciably since the beginning of August) and it’s raised the ambient dust level so high that I now have a near-constant sinus headache and my eyes are painfully dry. Oh yeah, I’m sneezing a lot too…

  16. howlslikewolf says:

I’ve learned to close my mouth and sneeze through my nose. It takes practice to do it without hurting yourself, but it usually means you only have to sneeze once — make sure to have something like a hankie ready, though.

  17. Twilightfairy says:

ugh.. my allergies flare up when fall starts. I don’t know what it is that makes he leaves fall/turn brown, but THAT makes me sneeze and my sinus’s oy. -.-

  18. MaskedMan says:

Suppressing sneezes is a skill… One learned through pain. Biff has only just begun his journey as an apprentice sneeze-swallower.

Essentially allergy-free, here. But I get sinusitis, and recovery from that ALWAYS involves nuclear weapon-range sneezes, which can be somewhat inconvenient when on a conference call halfway ’round the globe. I once suppressed a sneeze so powerful that I ruptured an eardrum.

    Ouch.

Uh… I currently have no allergies, just a strange cold, and a seeming hate of heat.
My hate of heat is very… random, to say the least…
It comes and goes, one day I’ll love the sun and go sit outside, then suddenly aquire a hate of it and run indoors.
Also, it dissapears during the strange cold.
The strange cold is just like an ordinary cold, yet I only get it during certain months; To be precise, July, September and November.
It disapears during August and October, yet always returns.
During the strange cold, all random heat repulsion disappears, and I freeze to death even in the warmest of weather.
VERY hard to explain when you are sat indoors in a thick jumper and coat during the middle of a heatwave…

    …phew, I went on a bit, didn’t I?

  20. DaemonThanatos says:

…Ow. Been there, Biff. I feel your pain…because I swallowed a sneeze, and it came out the wrong end. Painfully.
