Good comic…but it’s so far fetched it almost seems as though it was mocking clean energy.
Don’t get me wrong either, cause I’m about as far from being a fanatic about it as y’can get.
I’ve always thought those funny spinny things people put on their roofs to vent heat out should be used to generate electricity. In my ideal world, those spinny things would be installed in roofs that are entirely solar panelled too, and toilets would be like the aeroplane vacuum toilets, to save water.
The reason the airplane ones work is because the pressure inside the lavatory is much higher than the pressure at 30,000 feet or more. When you flush, it opens the waste vent, and is forcibly ejected from the plane by the high-pressure trying to quickly go to the low-pressure. The same process is what creates windy days.
Solar power is annoying here, because it’s all cloudy at the moment. I lol’d at the people with solar hot water systems, they have no hot water now…though in 40 degree (celsius) plus heat, I think a cold shower is more appealing.
Oh my god….. I think I’m going to bust a gut….. The thing that got me was the cord coming out of the cake. And knowing Biif, those are probably trick candles, and he’s going to be blowing them for a while…..
XD This has been a great week. Can’t wait to see what next week is.
I define “green fanaticism” as “the point where a person decides that they want a crappy airplane toilet in their house because it would ‘save water’.”
Oh the joys of youth, no? I’m from the modern generation of youth, growing up in the 1990’s, but I used to watch a lot of the older cartoons from the 60’s that were shown late at night. The Jetsons were one of them, and you have to consider the fact that the show took place here in the twenty-first century. So at the same time, where’s my flying car, cloud-city skyscrapers, and x-ray goggles y’know? If only the future lived up to our expectations.
I keep thinking there should be a way to harness my puppy’s energy — a treadmill/generator thing maybe? I could SO completely power my house from her insane activity!
@MadDavid: when Thomas Edison hooked up a a telegraph between his and a friend’s houses, he didn’t want to have to buy a voltaic cell (battery) and tried to use the static electricity from rubbing the cat backwards, but the cat didn’t approve.
The concept of harnessing Day to Day activities actually works in real life. I read about a devise strapped to the knee that did 2 things:
– Made walking take less effort
– charge a battery
Of coarse Biff’s way is substantially hilarious.
Blowing out candles is an everyday activity for Biff? How does he eat cake everyday and keep his thin physique…
Nowadys with people having their pants low and their underwaer showing, solar powered ones would be able to pull your pants up using the available sunlight when your pants are down!
… I just realized how insane it is that you update this 5 times a week without fail since January 2007 (before which point you only updated 3 times a week) and you have literally NEVER missed an update! I hardly have time to do ANYTHING when I am working 9-5. Not to mention the (http://www.thebookofbiff.com/2009/01/08/673-pressure/) 30 minute commute!
I’ve always thought that cats could be harnessed for their static electricity!

Solar-powered underwear in a place where the sun don’t shine? GENIUS!

“It is unquestionably the future, and you would have crashed your stupid flying car anyway.

You should use those really annoying re-lighting candles.
ahh a week of being cheap.

And I thought the candle wax tasted bad, heavy cable would have to be worse. And cutting the cake just became the hardest job.
Little did they all know, this was Monkeyman’s first time reading the Biff comic.
Oh no. It’s not the future…yet.
We won’t see that serious stuff until this baby hits 88 miles per hour.
There is actually such thing as a incinerating toilet, that instead of using any water, it completely burns all the waste within the toilet assembly.
“Isnβt this the future yet?”

there is actually solar powered underwear (it could only be made in japan :P)

And you can fill the pouches with water! You thirsty? SUCK IT FROM MY BRA.
Great comic as all ways, Chris. π

No joke.
But…in relation to the comic…
I seriously need those kinda fans in my room…I pace a LOT.
Wrong Reaper, been reading Biff for a long time.
HEY! A cake! My birthday was a few days ago Chris….lol jk man.
Great comic! Keep it up!
My birthday is tomorrow, almost great timing!
@Z2012 Ed : wouldn’t that smell something horrible? the bathroom fan would be going nonstop xP
Solar-powered Underwear? What would you need the power to do?
Wait…Wait… I don’t think I want to know… unless it lights up…
good one colin
What I don’t understand is why they don’t put Solar panels on top of Buses and Semi Trailers and make them Hybrids….
DOING THE FRUG! …L
(the “L” is a reference to The Motorcycle Song by Arlo Guthrie)
XDDD This is freaking hysterical!
Kelemvour – There is probably some practical reason, but I gotta admit, that does sound like an interesting concept

put simply, LOL
To be fair, they have managed to harness the power of dancing:

That cake thing could so work.
hahaha, way to be economical and environmental! π
What about having a miniature hydroelectric power station inside your toilet? Think about that: evertime you flush you would save a dolar!
(of course, you would need to intall it before the pipes, so the fans were the water need to pass would’n be obstructed by… hummm… you got the idea)
π

…so, how old is Biff anyway?
Of course, by the time the cake is properly powered, Biff would have passed out from lack of oxygen.
Science! π
fantastic and clever!
Hook up a generator to a revolving door and let the flow of people charge it up.
Those wind turbines can be dangerous:

Yes that’s a truck at the base of it, just to give you a sense of scale
