A lot of items would just seem unhealthy, disgusting, tragic or plain boring if you’d describe them like that… Not just food, but any item, thing or object!
Red, warm, liquid stuff (tomato soup)
Cylinder-shaped items that you buy just to put them on fire and watch them melt away (candles)
A box that shows you moving pictures with sound (TV)
Vaguely horse-shaped plastic items that usually don’t do anything at all (My little pony or similar horses)
My first thought when I read these descriptions before reading what it was.
1. Red, warm, liquid stuff (uhh blood?)
2. Cylinder-shaped items that you buy just to put them on fire and watch them melt away (really melty firewood?)
3. A box that shows you moving pictures and sounds (a cardboard box with pictures in it?)
4. Vaguely horse-shaped plastic item that usually don’t do anything at all. (This little horse shaped seesaw that I had when I was little? It sat around for a long time not doing anything.)
Makes more sense than calling them hot dogs! Do you know how many immigrants won’t touch them because of that name?
I’d balk at the concept of pasty meat.
