I had a hamster that frequently escaped. The main problem was that there was no secondary source of food or water in my room. A simple trap with a little bit of food would get him back 20 minutes after I realized he was gone.
When I was little, we had a pet rat. Every other day, we would open the door to her cage, and she would go explore the house. As long as we kept an eye on her, she was free to poke around where-ever her curiosity led her. Upstairs, downstairs, climbing curtains, eventually going back to the table where her cage was, climb up the tablecloth, go into her cage and pull the door closed, and take a nap.
Love the R2 vacuum cleaner.
The vacuum cleaner kinda looks like R2D2!
