#1851 – Phasmatodea

There are stick insects out here where I live but I very rarely see one. It just occured to me recently that I probably look them all the time. Unless they are walking across a man made surface they are very hard to actually see.

I like those little bugs that look like leaves when their wings are closed, and will flutter like a leaf when the wind blows, so they don’t give away their position.

  2. I haven’t seen any stick insects in real life (and there are no stick insects where I live), but I have seen a video with them. I was a bit surprised by the fact that they sway from side to side when walking, to make it look like they’re just a twig on a windy day. The video was filmed indoors, so it can’t have been an actual wind, right?

Not even at the zoo? Because they don’t live in my area either, but I have seen them at the zoo.

      1. Well, maybe at a zoo, but if so, then it must have been a long time ago, because I don’t remember if I have actually seen any. I have seen some weird bugs at a zoo, but stick insects…? I don’t know…
