#1605 – Hog

I don’t seem to remember saving up for anything big when I was a kid. I had to wait for Christmas or birthdays to get those things. I had a bunch of different banks that I would stick money in but it was really just temporary storage for a few weeks or so. I wonder how much money I spent on candy during my entire childhood.

I remember once I got sick and tired of my mother taking my Game Boy Advance SP away, so I stuck my luck in and saved up a whopping 70 dollars. I dodged my dad, who always was looking for a way to get beer money, and once in awhile did a few odd jobs which involved a angry pig and my sudden ability to jump 5 foot fences in one go, and a gardening club, saving up over a year for this. -w-

To my happiness, when I got 70 dollars finally I was getting ready to go to the store to get my hard earned SP, which I knew for a fact was never going to “Disappear” like the other games had, when I came home from school.

Guess what was on the table new and ready? You guessed it. Shed bought it for me.

She thought I’d be happy. I was PISSED. But she never took that one away whenever I got “grounded”, and I went and used the money I saved to buy some good games. So story ended well 🙂

  2. Why won’t my comment show up? I didn’t even get that “Your comment is awaiting moderation” thingy! And when I tried again, I got an error message that read something like “Looks like you’ve already said that!”

    What’s going on here?!

Huh? I can read this one at least.

      1. The first one i wrote disappeared….
        It was:

I saved all my money when I was a kid. Not for any particular reason though… Or maybe I just didn’t spend any of my own money on anything because my parents bought everything for me anyway…

On a different note; I don’t remember ever having a piggy bank that actually looks like a pig. The one that looked the most like that typical piggy bank was a big, pink elephant, just like the big one in this picture:

There was a link here, but if you google “föreningsbanken elefant” you might find it.

I was expecting some pun about Ham radio.

I was the opposite; I rarely spent my money. I counted once, my allowance was only $2 a week and I had over $100. That’s right, I hadn’t bought anything in a year. Of course, I then went on a spending spree…

I loan-sharked my younger brother and sister, who always wanted candy or something. It worked well until Mom found out and took all my “earnings” away.

I usually keep my money with my father, so I bypass the problem of the piggy bank skimming off the top. I guess I rarely put my money in piggy banks but rather plastic jars that once held Talenti brand gelato.

What’s wrong with the maximumble page?

Looks fine from here, what are you seeing?

I’m good at stashing away money. Sometimes I have to put a note with it so I can remember what it’s for.

I remember being a kid and saving up $200 for the N64 when it came out. Now it goes for about $20 at used games shops. Still one of my favourite consoles.
