#1600 – Martin

I see a lot of complaints about autocorrect but I think it’s great. The amount of words that it gets wrong for me pales in comparison to all the words it fixes for me. The only major problem I’ve had is I wrote the dialog for a Minimumble strip on our iPad and copy/pasted it into Photoshop a few days later. Autocorrect changed “were” to “we’re” for me and I didn’t notice until a reader pointed it out in the completed strip.

Ugh, Autocorrect. I tend to use words not normally utilised, and so words such as apropos get turned into… well whatever.
I tend to spell correctly anyway, although when I get to typing too fast, I may sometimes type the occasional “teh”.

I see a lot of compliments about auto erect, but I think it’s grate. The amount of swords that it gets wrong for me plays in comparison to all the words it remixes for me. The only major pogrom I’ve had is I smote the dragon for a minimal strap on our Maxi pads and copy/padded it into Photoshop a few days later. Auto connect changed “were” to “conjuring” four me and I didn’t notice until a radar pointed in, out, in and stripped.

    Congrats on the 1600th comic!

This book series looks better than Martin’s.

  5. I would go completely mad if I was typing on a computer/anything else that has autocorrect! I don’t want to sound angry or something (because I’m not), but I completely hate it when the computer tries to “correct” words that are correct already, or if it would try to finish the words for me or something like that.

The worst thing would be if this happened while I’m writing my short stories, because they contain a lot of made-up words, and many of the characters have English names even though I write in Swedish.

I too have no issues with autocorrect on the iPhone/iPad, however I notice on my girlfriend’s android phone it’s actually auto cowreck

  7. Yeah, I’ll keep my little red squiggly underline. At least then I get to decide if it was wrong or not.

Autocorrect: The perfect scapegoat when you decide that you shouldn’t have texted, tweeted or posted what you just did. 🙂

If the titles were indicative of the text inside, I’d read the whole thing, then watch the series, just to confuse-a-cat myself.

Heh, most of those books sound like dwarf fortress names 😛

When I got a smartphone, literally the third question I asked was “I keep hearing about autocorrect. That CAN be disabled, right?” The sales rep tried to convince me it could be valuable, especially with “big words where you might not see it a lot.” I kept a straight face.

I am going to find a way to turn “a ham of groans”, “a crab of mints”, and “a cream of drink” into units of measurement.

My wife always calls the last one “Lunches with Dragons.”
