#1594 – Bib

I liked going out to dinner someplace with my parents that had a kids menu. I felt special that I had my own selection. Plus, the best places the menu had a maze or a coloring page on the back. Yay crayons!

  1. Awww, how cute!

The only restaurants I’ve been to with my parents as a kid didn’t have that much of a kids menu, just maybe ONE meal that was for kids, but at least you’d get a free toy along with it. Yeah, I’m talking about hamburger bars.

Funny, I now work in a restaurant that has ONE meal for kids, except there’s no toy and it’s a five star dining place (the kind of place you’re not really supposed to bring kids to…)

So kiddies can have the kids pasta. Unless their parents would prefer to spend the money on them having the truffle seared diver’s scallops with wild mushroom rigatoni and pine nut pesto.

There used to be a restaurant around here called the Rib Tavern. Their specialty was barbecued ribs (duh), and since they tend to get a little messy, they used replaceable paper tablecloths. There were crayons on each table, so you could just scribble directly on the tablecloth. I was massively bummed when they closed, although this had less to do with the crayons than the fact that they had some truly killer ribs.

Where I work they had an executive meeting, with crayons and coloring pages. I no longer fear for our civilization.

If your date normally orders off of the kids menu is a completely different problem.
