Fortunately this is not based on actual experience. Nope. Never done anything silly like read a website while absentmindedly shoving sharp edible objects at my face repeatedly. Who would do that? Everyone knows you’re supposed to break up the chips in the bag and eat them with a spoon. Common knowledge. That’s how we all do it.

Nope, the chip was too big in that comic, not rotated incorrectly. Completely different injury. 🙂
they should really sell those chips pre-broken, bit of a hazard for sure. I have some at the moment, organic corn chips, they’re twice as hard and twice as sharp as normal, pretty much the only way to safely eat them is to blend them into a soup along with some salsa in the blender.
I would have liked tortilla chips better if they were easier to chew, had a different shape, were smaller in size or if they didn’t have such sharp edges… Or a combination of all of the above!

i HATE those pointed chips, the only thing i hate more is the partials and crumbs of those scoop ones.
When I had a impacted tooth pulled, I was very careful with what I ate until it healed. Then, I forgot, and was eating tortilla chips, and a chunk went sideways, and poked the still-tender gum covering the site. I went cross-eyed with a pain I never experienced before or since.
This happened to me once with the corner of a slightly overdone burrito. I didn’t even realize what damage had been done until I noticed subsequent bites in the burrito having a very un-burrito-esque bright red border.
There must be a reason we use red for DANGER signs!
I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS.
It is not pleasant.
