When I was a kid the interiors of cars in the summer were covered in leg-melting vinyl and frying pan chrome. If I was wearing shorts I would have to pull them down a bit to protect the part of my leg that touched the seat. I also mastered the art of buckling the seatbelt by only touching the fabric straps attached to the blisteringly hot metal. Eventually my mom gave us beach towels to cover everything in the back seat.
