#1504 – Shadow

You let that sort of evil into the ground and it will take years for the grass to grow back. The only solution is to dig it out. You gotta go down 6 feet and then bring in fresh earth from a neutral location. Meanwhile all your neighbors will shake their heads in disapproval as they walk by. Walking slowly. Frowning.

Try blessed fertilizer. It’s hiss and bubble a little bit … and sometimes catch on fire, but you’ll be good to go with fresh blessed seeding. Just don’t cut the blessed grass or you’ll be cursed.

  3. When I lived in a house, there were these strange-looking, circle shaped areas in the lawn, where the grass looked completely different. The strands of grass were much thicker, and they had a lighter shade of green than the rest of the grass. These weird grass circles were a meter in diameter (a bit more than 3 feet), and I think they’re still there.

Maybe your septic tank is haunted.

      1. But we didn’t have a septic tank! Nobody in Sweden has them, as it gets flushed away to the local sewer instead.

It sounds like your old house had “fairy rings” in the yard (seriously, that’s what they’re called). Of course, they’re not caused by fairies but by underground fungi that grow in rings or arcs.

      1. I looked it up. There is a picture on Wikipedia that looks quite similar to the circles on the lawn, except that the circles on my lawn were filled with weird-looking grass, instead of it just being a ring of weird grass.

        Here’s the pic on Wikipedia:

I think this is why in most legends and stories demons and other evil forces are sealed away in some object or place rather than killed outright. It’s not that these creatures are too powerful to kill, but because people don’t want to mar their immaculate lawns.
